Gearbox have have responded to the criticism that their forthcoming game, Aliens: Colonial Marines, had no female characters.
The hive mind of the Internet was rather annoyed when the lack of ladies was uncovered, a surprising omission considering all of the Aliens films feature a strong female character in the lead role.
Aside from Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley the Aliens film also featured Jenette Goldstein as Private Vasquez, Cynthia Dale Scott as Corporal Dietrich, Colette Hiller as Corporal Ferro and Carrie Henn as Newt, a child who is the only survivor of the colony on LV-426.
“We realised some people were starting to feel bad. We exist to entertain people,” said Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, “I want everybody to be clear that there are playable females in both the multiplayer and the campaign.”

Not strictly true. There were several survivors, albeit all cocooned up.
And they all get nuked at the end of the film, ergo she is the only suvivor at the end of the film.

I think she was killed in the opening scene of the next movie too come to think of it.

Newt survived the colony, it was the trip on the spaceship that finished her off, and the was alive at the end of Aliens.

And technically the queen survived the colony. She died on the Sulaco.

Well, they’ll need at least 3 months to analyse the female form in all its guises. Then they’ve got to get the boob jiggling and long hair swishing physics just right…

Lets not forget that they will also need to design the skimpiest outfit ever known to man for them to wear & give it +3 hp (for some reason).

well, good, it’s just a shame it took that for them to add some playable women into a game based on the Alien series, but at least they’ve seen sense now.
