Rayman Legends Delayed Until Q1 2013

The Wii U has lost one of its flagship launch titles as Ubisoft have confirmed that Rayman Legends has been delayed.

“Rayman Legends will launch worldwide in the first quarter of 2013,” Ubisoft said in a statement to VideoGamer.com, saying they needed more time to “deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations.”

Recently a level designer for the game, Chris McEntee, has said the game could work on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

“Well, technically we could to it with SmartGlass [for Xbox 360] and with the Vita being linked to the PlayStation 3. The possibility could be there, but we chose to really focus on Wii U specifically because it has a special tool set, and because everyone that buys it gets what they need to play the game.”

  1. Nooo… would’ve been the reason I’d buy a Wii U.

  2. well thats a tad annoying for Nintendo I’m sure, and those wanting the game for Wii U

  3. Ouch. Thats too bad. Playing Origins at the mo and loving it. Although tough as nails.

  4. Damn.

  5. Huge shame as I would definitely have picked it up at launch – I’ll get New Super Mario U instead which should keep me going!

    • Thats a launch title? :O

      • It’s on the lists I’ve seen yeah! The conspiracy theorist in me says Nintendo have asked Ubisoft to hold it back to give Mario less competition at launch!

  6. That’s a real shame. Rayman Legends would have been a launch system seller for me. Now I won’t have any regrets when I wait for more must have titles to appear before I buy one.

  7. Glad I held fire pre-ordering one now. The launch lineup looks great but Rayman legends and ZombiU would have definitely been the two games I would have wanted at launch

  8. Ouch, that was the best title for the launch!

  9. Bit crap. Not that there’s been anything go right for the Wii U launch yet :(
