Well it seems you were all quite happy to get your hands on Gravity Rush. It does look like some of you would have been fairly happy to have anything new to play on your Vitas, but Gravity Rush really does seem to be a great title for Sony’s portable.
Youles, for example, called the game “stunning visually” and noted that “the presentation is great (even the loading screens)”. They also praised the game’s gravity manipulation, saying that it helps make the game different to the competition and stand out. However, they did note that it “suffers a bit from basic dialogue/story and some repetitiveness at times” but pointed out that “it’s something that isn’t offered on the PS3”, and I’d contend it’s core mechanics aren’t found much anywhere, and certainly not with the same smoothness.
Sympozium commented on a fairly interesting element of the game, the way it uses the Vita’s features. With the console seemingly jam packed with input devices, it’s always nice to see developers finding ways to include them that work. Sympozium said that “It uses most of the features quite well,” which may not be the most effusive praise, but it’s still nice to see it commented on.
They went a bit further with their general comments on the game though, saying that it’s “certainly a must have for PS Vita.” The only downside for the game, at least from Sympozium’s point of view, was the combat. However, that aside they called Gravity Rush “a wonderful experience to go through.”
We should, briefly, touch on the other side of things and the only dissenter this week was Dan Lee. The silly man didn’t actually leave a rating for the game in his comment, so he doesn’t count when we get to the overall verdict, but I think he’d probably count as an Avoid It. The gigantic Northerner said he “Didn’t like it at all,” a disappointing state of affairs given he was originally “really excited for it.”
For today’s final comment, we really have to turn things over to Kennykazey, who’s quite clearly some kind of magician. I’ll let their comment explain why:
˙ʇı ʎnq ˙plǝɥpuɐɥ ɐ uo ‘ɯlıɟ ılqıɥƃ oıpnʇs ɐ ɟo ʇuǝɔǝuıɯǝɹ s,ʇı puɐ ʎʇıɔ uǝdo ƃuıʇɐuıɔɐɟ ɐ ɥʇıʍ ǝɯɐƃ ǝnbıun ɐ ɥsnɹ ʎʇıʌɐɹƃ
See? Clearly some kind of dark magic at work there.
Now we move onto the verdict, and it’s a fairly simple one this week. With Dan Lee forgetting to vote we’re left with a unanimous decision of eight Buy It ratings. If you own a Vita then it looks like it’s worth getting Gravity Rush.
As for this week’s poll, we see Gravity Rush and ModNation Racers: Road Trip coming off. If you fancy some car based mayhem Twisted Metal’s been added to the poll, or if you fancy a follow up to Final Fantasy XIII’s WeView then it’s probably worth giving your vote to the aptly named sequel, Final Fantasy XIII-2. How on earth did Square Enix come up with such a crazy naming convention?

Hmm seeing as the Vita is all I have at the moment I really have to consider this. I have ridge racer and LBP Vita at the moment, maybe I could stretch for Gravity Rush soon.

Student loan? ;)

I’m the family who’s household income is just above the limit where you can claim for all funding, but get’s nothing and then everyone is richer than them. So my loan is very tight and i cant go off and buy things for myself.
Sorry but this explanation was needed even if you were jokingly saying that :P
Youles
I was only kidding mate hence the “wink”, I just know my mates (back when they started Uni) used to waste their loans on non-educational stuff whilst I was working my ass off for nothing, perhaps times have changed! I know how you feel – I’ve paid nearly £50k in tax in the last 8 years but since having a child and my wife’s income is about a third of what it used to be and now we struggle a little, and we get bugger all help, especially since they lowered the criteria for working tax credits. It’s a joke since our mortgage was given on x3 times our joint salary yet her income has dropped significantly now.
Anyway, never any need to explain yourself, I wasn’t being funny or anything, you should know I’m not like that :)

Jesus! This country is a joke sometimes, good to see that you are surviving well though :)
Youles
Yup, we’ve paid a shit load of tax and yet the only benefit we were getting (of just £40 a month – Child Tax Credit) got taken away in April. Oh, but if we both get sacked we can claim full benefits and our mortgage might even get paid for a while due to housing problems.
I had a mate who was being asked to work stupid hours with no breaks etc, so he quit his job. He wasn’t able to claim any benefits because he resigned. But if he’d stolen money, for example, then got sacked – he’d have been entitled to benefits. WTF is that all about, I do wonder about this country sometimes.
Anyway, if you can get hold of Gravity Rush it is a good game – although try the demo first as it’s not everyone’s cup of tea :)

That’s shocking, The welfare system here is a mess. My mum is being made redundant in jan, after 21 years in the job, and with my dad having a variable income as he’s self employed hopefully we can have some help!
As a student I’ve never been entitled to any funding apart from the bare bones, yet it is family’s like mine which struggle the keep on top of everything. My friends were on EMA getting £30 a week where as I worked every other weekend for £30!
My dad shows me the tax bills and Im baffled to why we have to pay so much.
It seems the less you work the more money you have. Or there are the rich and the poor who are all richer than the middle class. If that makes sense.
For a gaming site this has gone way off topic, downloading the demo tonight. And maybe just maybe I my student finance might buy me gravity rush as a gift, but dont tell anyone ;)

Your both doing well :) I’m at uni atm and I havent taken out a loan because I commute and my Dad died during in my 1st year but last year hopefully I’ll be able to manage like you Youles without being a sponge..off topic I know but hey…I don’t know :P

I would recommend trying the demo before buying it.

Have been in two minds about Gravity Rush, not sure it is worth the money yet, as is the case with one or two other vita games. And before anyone says, or impossibly forsees my future like ‘Youles’ I am a student only playing the Vita atm because can’t bothered with TV just to play my xbox. So Vita has been good and convenient, just with a few expensive games that seem to be staying that way T_T.
Youles
“forsees your future”?
Klart
I should get this.

Thanks for the mention, now I must get back to my hut in Mirkwood for the new Hobbit-film.
