Usually we find bands suing videogame companies but this time the roles have been reversed as Ubisoft has launched legal action against The Black Eyed Peas.
In June 2011 Ubisoft entered into an agreement to use the Peas’ likeness and songs in video games for both consoles and mobile devices.
They have since launched The Black Eyed Peas Experience for PS3 and Xbox 360 and had submitted material for an iOS game for approval to BEP Music, the company that holds the trademark for the group.
Ubisoft alleged that the company has repeatedly ignored attempts to contact them regarding the iOS game and has now launched legal action, claiming damages in excess of $1 million. Ubisoft say they have already spent 181,000 Euros (approximately $233,000) in developing the IOS game.
We asked Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas to comment* and she replied, “My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump. My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump. My lovely lady lumps (lumps).”
* By that we mean we loaded “My Humps” on YouTube.
