The latest update for the PC version of Skyrim – version 1.8 - seems to indicate that the rumoured Dragonborn DLC will eventually make its way onto PlayStation 3. A line of code in the ‘completed Dragonborn quests’ code reads “$DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT_PS3 DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT” which is fairly telling.

Bethesda are still working on getting the first set of DLC out on PS3 and have been giving weekly updates on their progress to sooth the enraged PS3 owners.

Haha! You fell for my joke! Bethesda have not issued an update since October 5th when they let us know  ’Our team is still working to make PS3 content available on PS and doing everything possible to make it a possibility.’

Peter Hines, VP of PR at Bethesda, gave a personal update via Twitter on October 11th which was ‘”The DLC isn’t available yet. when I have an update on its status, i’ll let you know.”

In other Skyrim news, a course at Rice University in Houston is offering a course ‘Scandinavian Fantasy Worlds: Old Norse Sagas and Skyrim’ in which ‘students will read selections from Old Norse and Old Icelandic sagas (in translation) as they play different quests within Skyrim.’

I’ve lost interest really., a bit disenchanted with Bethesda & the sub-par PS3 version of Skyrim in general.

Haha! Nice, for a few seconds you actually had me almost move Bethesda out of my bad books :p

I’ve decided I will no longer play skyrim on my ps3. Gonna get an awesome rig and unleash it on there :D Although, the first of call will be to download a mod to get rid of that ghastly menu interface!!

I want to believe you Bethesda but i have a feeling it’s just the unlock the DLC in the main menu file. No update regarding Dawnguard and Hearthfire. If they can’t even get a 75MB add on pack to work on PS3, then that says a lot about them. Hearthfire isn’t that complicated and could have been patched in via a patch.

As for the course, why? There are plenty of games that have norse themes and they should have included a wide variety of games. Also, does this mean that we will see gaming lore experts become a proffesion? :O

That “cultural” course made laugh, especially as the general Skyrim aesthetics is more Celtic than Nordic (knits, ogams, triskells everywhere, not even mentioning the Celtic harp music).

The Hearthfire content made me laugh. Listening to American children in this deeply nordic-sounding place. The whole of Skyrim has some wonderful Scandinavian accents but they ran out of people and threw some yanks at the problem. Yeah…. ‘cos that worked out so well. :-\

One of the worst thing about that voice is that its the most brattish American voice possible, they used the same voice actor in Fallout and you couldn’t kill them, oh how I tried.

Bethesda has always held PS3 owners with contempt. Stuck to the PC version on this one because if that, especially after the debacle that was Fallout 3.

“Bethesda have been giving weekly updates on their progress”

    On which planet?
