It seems barely moments ago the older members of TSA were reminiscing on which Amiga classics they would like to see – oh wait, it was, over in News Snatch.
Our prayers have been answered by one of the Gods of Amiga Gaming, Team 17, who have just announced that the original version of Alien Breed will launch on PlayStation Mobile via the PlayStation Store on 14th November for a paltry £3.19/€3.99/$4.99.
The Alien Breed series was subject to a remake way back in December 2009 and although it was fairly well received, it was not the classic game many of us remember. The new/old PlayStation Mobile version will soon have heart rates racing as Vita gamers scramble for the exit whilst Lynette Reade intones “Destruction imminent” and red warning lights flash.
I really can not wait to get my hands back on this classic and I have a feeling that having the screaming, roaring aliens thundering through the Vita headphones will make those frantic dashes to the lift even more exciting.
Team 17 have not released any further information other than the screenshot above but it does look like the PS Mobile version is a port of the already spruced up iOS game. If that is the case then it should have the following features:
- Classic Mode – Play using the original graphics, music and controls.
- Enhanced Mode – Featuring enhanced graphics, audio and controls.
- 4 New Levels – entirely new levels that intersect with the original Alien Breed story
- 6 original Alien Breed levels
- 12 Alien Breed Special Edition levels
I have contacted Team 17 to clarify the content of the PS Mobile version, we will keep you updated on any news we receive.
