News Snatch: Resident Evil May Return To Horror, PS4 Racing Games And OMG Cat vs Dramatic Lemur

And mention of potential nudity next week.

We’ve covered all the videos that have been released today in either the Trailer Park or in separate posts so to fill the space where we normally have a game trailer here is OMG Cat vs Dramatic Lemur. It always makes me laugh.

Masachika Kawata, producer of the upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations port for the Xbox 360, Wii U and PS3 has suggested that the franchise may get a reboot and return to its horror roots.

“Moving forward I can see us focusing even more on the horror aspect and fear in the series, and see us making something scarier than we have already,” he told Eurogamer. Capcom will be watching how well Revelations performs on the big consoles and said “We’ll be looking very carefully at how the title is received and what feedback we get.”

He also suggested the game may move to an open world setting which seems at odds to moving back to survival horror.

A former Lionhead employee has described how he was reprimanded for talking to the gaming community. “I used to get told off a lot at Lionhead for talking to the community too much,” Cliff Harris told Destructoid.

“They’d ask a question like ‘will you be able to do this in the game,’ and normally you can’t answer that. But if you’re the guy that coded it, well, yeah you can, I’m looking at the code right now, and I got told off for that.”

Wonder why no one told Molyneux off.

A truck load of Bethesda soundtracks has landed on iTunes: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Original Game SoundtrackThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Original Game SoundtrackThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Original Game Soundtrack Fallout 3 Original Game SoundtrackFallout: New Vegas Original Game Soundtrack Dishonored Original Game Soundtrack and finally the RAGE Original Game Soundtrack .

A quickly removed CV has listed a “confidential game” for Xbox 360, PS3 and … drumroll … PS4! The CV belonged to an artist working at Ivory Tower, a studio that comprised of former Test Drive Unlimited developers.

Ooh! Snazzy!

Yesterday we got the lowdown on Killzone Mercenary and now we have the box art, snazzy eh? The game will be released on September 17th but a couple of hours after the reveal Rockstar decided to tell everyone that GTA V had slipped to the same day.

The rather amusing response from the Killzone Twitter feed: “@RockstarGames come at me bro!”

Unsurprisingly the value of Take-Two’s shares have took a tumble after the market found out GTAV had been delayed, they fell 6.81% yesterday although have made a slight rally today.

Rumours of the PS4 being delayed in Europe have caused outraged. One loyal Playstation customer* had this to say “No. NO NO NO NO NO. You’ve got a frickin’ year, sort it out. Europe is PlayStation’s biggest market, do not f*ck us over this time Sony!”

*me

And on that slightly shouty note, have a good weekend and come back next week, we might have boobs. As in a news story on digital breasts, not that Kris has suddenly sprung a pair of double D funbags that Peter taps gently much like a kitten playing with two balls of wool.

Oh what a horrible image.

Thats a lot of soundtracks! Fallout 3 is one of my favourite game soundtracks ever. Roy Brown, The Inkspots, Billie Holiday etc. classic stuff! Only problem was Three Dog chatting guff in between

At first glance I thought the next resident evil had a zombie lemur in it. And I’m guessing dead or alive 5 on vita may be providing the digital boobs.

Was abit disappointed when i clicked on the fallout 3 soundtrack, to find it doesn’t come with anything on the radio, not even the Tales Of Daring Dashwood.

IDK, I think an open world Resi game would be perfect for survival horror. imagine you have a set amount of resources, do you go straight to the mission or take a chance looking around for more resources? IMO its easier to stock up on supplies in a linear level game. an open world game can force you to use up supplies before you even start the mission.

I wonder how much insider trading happen at Take-Two? Every game Rockstar puts out effects their stock price. It’s got to be tempting to say, sell your Take-Two shares after they announce a Rockstar game when the stock price is up, or before a game delay gets announced and then buy them back after the delay announcement when they’re 7% cheaper.

An open world resi game could be excellent but DI did do the open world zombie game and it didn’t excalty set a new standard for zombie games. But if they reboot Resident Evil, focus on making players have at least 1 spare pair of underwear nearby and drop all QTES, it could be a decent game. Or just GTA with zombies.

I’d say DI is more of an action oriented open world zombie game. If they went back to the old style of RE and made it an open world experience with decent characters, they might just end up with a winner.

I’d be surprised if they didn’t move the Killzone release. The Vita and its games are already suffering. You don’t have to make it any worse by putting it up against a gaming behemoth. Next thing you know first week sales will be in the low thousands and it will be declared a huge fail.
