The Last Of Us’ Single Player Campaign Will Be Naughty Dog’s Longest Yet

Naughty Dog aren’t saying how long The Last Of Us’ single player campaign will last, yet, but they are saying it’s big. Taking to comments on the US Blog, the studio’s Eric Monacelli said that the game’s length would “depend on how you play” but added that, as far as he’s concerned, “the campaign is our longest ever.” That would naturally put it, length-wise, above the three PS3 Uncharted games.

Eric also says that, regarding a potential PSN download version of the game, they “will have an announcement soon.” We can’t imagine it would be very light (the recent download of Uncharted 3’s single player will attest to that) but for those with massive hard drives and forgiving broadband providers, at least they’re considering the option.

The Last Of Us is currently scheduled for a June release.

  1. Longer isn’t necessarily better though. If variation in gameplay justifies it then fine but if they try and extend the gameplay artificially like they did with dead space 2 then that wouldn’t be such a good thing.

    • This isn’t EA or DS2 so the longer the better!

  2. So it’s longer than Jak and Daxter too? Aren’t they about 15 hours?

  3. The longer the better as far as I’m concerned.
Really looking forward to this, so if it takes me days & days & days etc to finish it then so be it.

  4. This is good & don’t forget the MP will increase longetivity too

  5. Glad to hear it. Want to buy it day-one (coincidently two days after my Birthday) but its hard to justify £40 on a game under 10 hours or so. That said, make it too long and it will probably just feel repetitive. 15-18hours sounds a good range to me.

  6. Killing the world population with a fungus is quite difficult, at least in the tsa podcast mentioned “Plague inc.”

  7. Have complete faith in ND to provide enough variety that a longer game won’t become a chore to play through. This will be brilliant!!

  8. Been steering clear of trailers, but mate has hinted there’s ‘Stealth elements’ in the game?.

Really hope Naughty Dog are keeping focused on this one and not trying to throw everything inc the proverbial kitchen sink i, just to expand playing time.

I’d rather play an average length game that delivers through out (say 8 hrs?), than a 15+hr game that has sections that just drag on, feel like they are a rinse+repeat of early stages or are just in there to add filler.

Naughty Dog i sure as hell do not want to be back tracking to point E which i passed an hour or so ago in-game, just because a cut-scene/plot reveal says i need to revist that area.

    • Have faith in ND, have they let us down yet?

For me they haven’t, i have complete faith they will deliver.
