Community Chronicle: 10/03/13

After a week filled with some new scandal involving EA every few minutes, it’s quite refreshing to kick back for the weekend and just watch the 6 Nations, isn’t it?

Of course, those of you who haven’t been paying attention to SimCity or any of the other shenanigans have probably just been jumping around in the new Tomb Raider, or some other game. I know that’s what I’ve been doing.

This week’s gaming set up comes courtesy of Colmshan1990.

There’s a bit of higgle, alongside some piggle, but it’s all good gaming stuff, with Rock Band kit, Move controllers, and even a PS2 crammed in right beside the PS3! The slightly more portable side of things then shows off a fairly capable modern laptop, replete with an i7 and dedicated GPU; an iPad and a Vita all taking the load, and, just as I have, he’s found the appropriate drivers to play PC games with a DualShock 3.

Of course, none of this would be any use without games, and alongside an ever growing digital collection, which you can see more of here, there’s a bookcase brimming with Blu-rays, games from every generation of PlayStation and a few DS titles to boot.

A lovely collection you have there.

If you’d like to share your gaming set up, please use the submission form below, get in touch with me on twitter @teflon, or just send me an email out of the blue to [email protected].

As I said above, I’ve been enjoying Tomb Raider, but last weekend topgearsam, Bodachi and myself finished off a run through of Castle Crashers… Then sat a laughed ourselves silly at the way it finishes.

Next Bunimomike and I finished off a run through filled with silliness of Lara Croft: Guardian of Light; I even found a Bluetooth dongle so I could use my DS3 wirelessly with my PC! A lovely bit of co-op play, and it’s just a slight shame that they announced that there are no plans for a sequel to it.

Still, it’s not like the new Tomb Raider isn’t a good enough to excuse their shift of focus, and I see that almost everyone is playing it or working up to playing it. Gaffers101, for example, finished Hitman Absolution, and plans on wrapping up the last few trophies before he heads over to Tomb Raider.

Crazy_Del has massacred his way through the multiplayer side of things, and has already ‘prestiged’ in the game! That’s on top of completing two extra difficult runs of Dead Space 3 for the fastest platinum, and finally reaching the finish line on a marathon 4 year effort to the Unreal Tournament platinum. The man’s a machine!

Elsewhere, Wolf-OF-Chaos earned his 5th Platinum of the year from Gow: Ghost of Sparta, a game which kjkg also completed alongside a Remote Play game of Shadow of The Colossus.

Taylor Made finished up one of last year’s gaming darlings in the form of The Walking Dead last Sunday, while Youles also finished a well received game with the Hitman Absolution Platinum. He then turned his gaze to the trophies from Black Ops 2’s “Turned” DLC mode, an intriguing little mode where humans play as zombies. A little like Left 4 Dead’s Versus mode, perhaps?

B_Cambo popped by to give us an update on his recent progress, taking the PSASBR and Castlevania LoS platinums with Aliens his next target. Hopefully he remembers to pay attention to the motion tracker.

We also have a new challenger in the form of F4rgo, who’s jumped into the Fastest Platinum leaderboards staking claims for Sorcery, Jak 3, Splinter Cell HD and Chaos Theory HD. We’ll see what he can bring to the table in future.

McProley might have landed himself in trouble by admitting that he finished off AC: Liberation at work this week. Unless he works for Ubisoft, I guess?

R1MJAW brought himself back up to 100% on Skyrim’s trophies once more, as the DLC continues to dribble out, but we finish off with some commiserations to TSBonyman whose HDD failed last week. On the plus side, it gave him a good excuse to go back and play a bit of the most excellent Shatter.

Silver linings…

That’s almost your lot, but you can head over to page two for the fastest platinums board. To finish off this page, we have the usual submission form for photos and accomplishments. Don’t hold back!

Dispite my next target being Aliens i have a feeling im closer to the Crysis 3 platinum now, completed all MP trophies just single player and DAMN collectibles. Im aiming for tomorrow night :-P but will keep you posted :-D

  2. Cool, tef’s last minute call for a rig entry worked…..frantic tidy up job for colmshan :P
All the same, that’s a really neat and diverse collection with a very impressive PSP UMD library ;)
Bugger all from me this week in the achievement department, just happily plodding away with the brilliant and immersive Tomb Raider. Well done to everyone else though that have reached goals and accomplishments over the last week!

    • Haha, that’s actually my sister’s UMD library since I got my Vita- all my games became her’s then!

She has a 3DS XL and games for that too, but they were hidden away in her room- can’t go in there without permission! :P

As for the tidy up job- more a case of clear a space for the photo and make sure the mess is as out of frame as possible! :)

  3. No Dissida? *cries into endless sorrow*

    Nice collection Colmshan ^^

    • Ah well, I didn’t get on well with Dissidia when I played it.

It’s part of my sister’s digital download collection now though (the PSP collection is now her’s, although the vast majority belonged to me before I bought the Vita).

      • It’s a nice stack of stuff mate! Good work getting your DS3 working on your laptop, I spent years trying different drivers and it works now but I find I have to pair it every time I start the laptop (I’m not pairing it with the ps3 between times) which is a faff, which drivers do you use and do you have to do that? Also, probably best you didn’t take a photo of your sisters room, bunimomike might get excited and no one wants the police involved…

  4. Guardian of Light was lovely fun. Great to see such a departure and how a game works when it’s been built with co-op play from the ground up.

However, I’ve just finished Tomb Raider. What an absolute joy of a game that was to play. Fantastic entertainment from start to finish and something that I feel most people really will enjoy.
