Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Dissolved, New Company Formed

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, Sony Computer Entertainment Asia, and Sony Computer Entertainment Pan-Asia are being dissolved as of today, according to an official statement [via] from Sony this morning. Asia and Pan-Asia are also being dissolved.

In their place is a new company, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia, which will be headed up by President Hiroshi Kawano. We’re awaiting a proper English translation, but it seems the goal was to provide new management structure and support with a focus on publishing and development.

And no, it’s not an April Fools, even Shuhei Yoshida took to Twitter to confirm the news.

  1. Oh wait this isn’t actually an April Fools joke? ¬.¬

  2. “We awaiting a proper English translation”, oh the irony *snigger*. May want to correct that.
I hope this helps Sony get out of any difficulties, all companies are trying to plug holes where money is bled and Sony do need to trim the fat. Fingers crossed the PS4 and Vita bring great profits.

    • Dissolving three companies into one will certainly help with the payroll.

  3. Now please dissolve SCEE.

  4. Do you just place them in water?

  5. I wonder if Sony plan to have one gaming divison that handles everything to do with PSN and the Playstation brand instead of 3 divisions? As it would be more effective and could actually improve some parts of Sony in certain markets. Such as SCEE’s piss poor management. It could eliminate any delays or communication problems.
