Quantic Dream’s PS4 Game Is “Really Surprising”

David Cage’s first PS4 game is likely to be called Singularity, and be based around the Kara tech demo we saw a while back. He’s not held back on talking about future plans, of course, but in a recent interview he’s alluded to the next-gen game being something rather special.

“New hardware provides new technologies that allow you to be more subtle,” he said, speaking in Paris recently. “I know that some people are surprised by what we can do on PS3 with Beyond, and we have heard many people even question whether this is a current-gen game.”

“But trust me,” Cage added, “if I showed you what we’re doing with the PS4 you would be amazed. It’s really surprising. It’s another world.”

Quantic Dream’s current project is PlayStation 3 title Beyond, which is set for October, and features a Hollywood feature movie-esque cast list and is by any standards a hugely ambitious project. Hopefully it’ll build on what Heavy Rain started, and send off the PS3 in style.

  1. There’s already a game called Singularity though.

    • Indeed there is, I had a great time playing through it.
Quite a number of people are probably going to stumble onto it because of this.
Not likely to be the easiest to get a hold of now.
Anyway I suppose it’s like other media (e.g. films), where you get a number of unrelated titles with the same name.

  2. Sounds promising, i’m sure Quantic Dream will continue to impress with their future projects. PS4 will undoubtedly allow them to closer realise their (Cage’s) vision.

  3. I always feel like their games don’t quite match what Cage is trying to achieve but I very much respect what he’s trying to do and how it helps the industry both mature and garner interest from the rest of the entertainment world (ie. actors, actresses, etc.).

    • The idea is there, but it’s never quite pulled off, that’s the way I see it. Beyond will probably be the same.

    • Same here. David Cage is madly in love with himself and what he creates but the hype that results from this can hurt the games if they don’t live up to it.
I’ve grown to be more careful when it comes to Quantic Dreams games after Heavy Rain. It was a really good game for what it was but it wasn’t the game he tried to sell me in interviews.

  4. Perhaps they’re making a first person shooter. :-P

  5. Sounds promising, if they can deliver.

  6. Looking forward to it. Already have Beyond Two Souls for preorder.

  7. David Cage is the Simon Cowell of the gaming industry for over-hyping his own stuff so much.

    • Quantic dreams have only ever released 3 games??

  8. Can. Not. Wait.
