Rayman Legends Set For Arrival In Europe This August

Following its initial delay, and subsequent loss of Wii U exclusivity, Rayman Legends has made far too many headlines for all the wrong reasons. However, the end is now in sight, with Ubisoft announcing that the title will release in Europe on the 30th August for Wii U, PS3 and 360.

The title had originally been slated for a September release, but it seems likely that Ubisoft realised that launching into the most competitive time of year against such heavy hitters as Grand Theft Auto V would have been an exceptionally poor business decision. Especially when Legends predecessor Rayman Origin’s was a particularly slow seller at first, despite its critical success.

Wii U owners have already experienced a taste of the game, with both a demo and this week’s Rayman Legends Challenges app appearing on the console, while PS3 and 360 owners will have to wait a little bit longer. There have been rumours of a Vita version appearing as well, though at this stage it seems unlikely that it would launch at the same time as the home consoles.

Hopefully now Rayman Legends can start making headlines for all the right reasons – the game plays fantastically, looks incredible, and continues the fantastic work begun by Origins. Forget which console it’s appearing on, and whether it’s late or not (or indeed a pleasant surprise), this is likely to be a must-buy come August.

  1. Good to hear that they have changed the release schedule. They really made a huge mistake when they released Origins in the timeframe they chose.
Despite all the backlash it (deservedly) got for the delay, I hope people give it a chance when it finally comes out. Origins became one of my all time favorite games and the sequel seems to deliver again.
The Wii U challenge mode seems to be addicting and fun, like it’s supposed to be.

  2. The Rayman devs could do with finding a new developer. Ubisoft are probably my least favourite publisher out there at the moment. Hate their games (Far Cry, Assassins Creed, all modern Tom Clancy games), they are onlinepass/DRM mad and have recently screwed the Rayman devs (and the entire Wii-U fanbase) over.
Origins was terrific but I will be giving Legends a miss now on principle.

  3. Good news that they’ve moved the release date to the end of August as that’ll give me time to finish it (hopefully) before Puppeteer and GTA V are released in the middle of September.
