If we walk away from this current generation having learnt nothing more than an indie game (and yes, I know) can change people’s opinions on what videogames can do (see my lengthy blog on this for more) then I’ll be a happy man.
That said, as a massive fan of the 8-bit era, seeing PS3 exclusive Journey mocked up as a NES game gives me a special little tingle – it’s obviously never going to happen, but this is brilliant.
I especially love the World Map, something we don’t get enough of these days and it’s built exactly how I’d imagine an old Nintendo game would represent the varied world of Journey with the cute little animated guy bobbing up and down like Mario would.
“I tried to stick close to the NES limitations,” says the author. “I know it exceeds them, though.” I don’t really care, this is seriously lovely. More please.
