New GTA V Trailers Released #GTAV (YouTube Links)

Three for the price of one.

Rockstar have today released a brand new trailer for this year’s Grand Theft Auto V, focusing on the three main characters in the game: Michael, Franklin and Trevor.

Individual ones are also available:

Hands-on previews of the game are expected to appear on Thursday from certain outlets. But not us. Rockstar sent us to the wrong address, sadly, all we got was a mouldy sandwich.

GTA V is out later this year for current gen consoles.

Excited?

Can. Not. Wait. And the fact one of the characters shares my name is icing on the cake. Launch day purchase for sure.

The name thing has at least got to be worth a trophy. Email Rockstar!

Haha. Just imagine an in game trophy where only people with the same name as the characters could get. Only a platinum for the chosen few :p

Not sold on this at all. Yes they’ve got 3 stories, but unless they’ve done something more with the concept & gameplay it could just be same old, same old.

How will having 3 different protaganists be same old same old?

This may not be directed at you, but I feel like alot of people want to dislike GTA purely because it has reached that point in its franchise where it is known by everybody and is so successful. People jumped on COD as soon as MW2 was released and started the hate train with that, and I feel GTA will go the same way.

Of course, you may just dislike the gameplay of the last few titles, and that’s fair dues. But some people just hate for the sake of hating – at least that’s the feeling I get.

For me personally, the gameplay peaked with Vice City after the almost equally excellent III.

3 or even 23 protagonists can easily be the same old same old, if the entire game consists of going somewhere on the map, robbing something or killing someone before going the other side of the map to do pretty much the same thing whilst a story plays out around those repetitive scenarios in rather weak looking cutscenes.

What R* do excellently however is craft a brilliant city that really does look like it’s living & breathing, but even here Ubisoft may have the march on them with something like Watch Dogs (an open world, city based game which will invariably feature a branching map based mission structure) which features proper interaction with all the non-playable characters and even interacting with loads of stuff in the city itself – Then there’s the way your single player ‘campaign’ overlaps with other players through shared instances.

GTAV could have a lot more gameplay to reveal with bringing new stuff to the table, but I just don’t see it yet, so for now, I’ve filed it under same old same old & it’s just not for me.

The 3 protagonists alters the gameplay entirely. You can shift to them during missions to do different things, and each one of them is specialised in what they can do.

The initial gameplay preview (where Trevors in a helicopter, Michaels in the office building and Franklins sniping) further proves that. I’m sure it will be great. Rockstar games always are. Many people said RDR would just be GTA in the West. It proved them wrong :)

Different perspectives on missions sounds really interesting to me. Not only for the difference in gameplay but the chance to see the story unfold from different view points. It Could totally change which characters you favoured and distrusted.

Watch Dogs might beat GTA’s world?

Sleeping Dogs already utterly outdid it completely.

After another watch theyre all very stereotypical as well. Should be a bundle of fun to play as Michael and Trevor if you can.

That’s the only one that looks vaguely interesting to me, looks like playing a character we’ve not got to experience in a game.

Franklin is a walking stereotype and Trevor is just nasty and slimey, why would anyone want to “be” him.

Because it’s based on the Compton gangs which, if you like it or not, are PRIMARILY black.

Let’s not stir things up from nothing.

well yeah it’s a GTA game!

      lol.

What else would a character like that be based on giving the setting and theme of the game?

Would you like him to be a version of django(Jamie foxx) based in the 21st century or something?

This looks great. I haven’t really been following the news with this game, I suppose that’s because the previous installment bored me.

I’ll pick this up when it comes around, especially looking forward to some MP carnage.
