News Snatch: Battlefield 4 Gets Xbox Exclusive DLC, Gamescom To Focus On Vita

First up a new trailer for Sparticus Legends, a game based on the sandals, swords and schlongs television program of the same name.

Good news for Xbox 360 owners as the first portion of The Bureau: XCOM Declassified DLC will be exclusive to your console. “We take great pride in our track record of providing high-quality post-release content for our games. We will continue to expand the XCOM universe by telling original stories set in the paranoia-drenched Cold War era of The Bureau,” commented someone quite important from 2K in a press release.

More good news for Xbox One, erm, pre-orderers, as Battlefield 4 will receive exclusive DLC. To be more precise, timed DLC that’s made up of old stuff, but hey, still a selling point, right? Dice producer Aleksander Gronda told Edge about plans to spruce up some of the maps from previous games. “That’s something we’re doing as an Xbox One exclusive,” said Gronda. “There are a few maps we’ve picked, we’re doing some re-work on them, adding a BF4 flavour. So that’s exclusive DLC for Xbox One. Some of the old maps are really good.”

Rayman Legends was a Wii-U exclusive but Ubisoft had a sudden change of heart, anyone care to guess why? “What happened was that we saw the Wii U was not going to sell enough of those games. The game is going to be fantastic, and we didn’t want those creators to wind up in a position where even after making a fantastic game, they didn’t sell well enough,” commented Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot to Venturebeat.

Ubisoft have also said that the next installments for Far Cry and Prince of Persia are “cooking”, as for Beyond Good & Evil 2: “We had a period where we had a demo that went out before it was quite ready, so everybody saw something that appealed to them. That’s why I think they keep expecting something. But I can’t say much more than that.”

Missing from E3: The already mentioned Beyond Good & Evil 2, The Last Guardian and a PlayStation 3 price cut. “There’s no plans as yet,” said Sony’s UK MD, Fergal Gara. “The PlayStation 3 is a system where it hasn’t been particularly easy to get the costs down.”

1001 Spikes is now coming to PlayStation 4 as well as PS Vita, never heard of it until today but it looks like Rick Dangerous might need to talk to his lawyers.

David Hayter trolled his old pals last week: “@Konami ‘s new “24” game looked amazing! #E3″

Disappointed with the Vita content at E3? Senior Social Media Specialist for PlayStation told HipHop Gamer that “Gamescom is definitely going to be a PS Vita show.

You asked for an update on the PS3 Firmware bricking story and here it is: “Sony is currently conducting investigations to determine the cause of this problem.”

And Finally, some Assassin’s Creed IV footage.

  1. Is another PS3 price cut really needed? If you haven’t got one now after six years, and it’s dirt cheap now, then a smallish price drop won’t really be what wins you over anyway.

    • Indeed. Bear in mind that the ps3 is a fully functioning 3D Blu-ray player with 7.1 output.

The costs are probably not there yet to save extra.

But Vita love at Gamescom yay. This year is looking barren bar Killzone and Tearaway so more big games please (new AC vita please Ubi).

    • Nah if they could bring it down to $149-199 the sales would most likely get a huge spike. I think it was at the $199 price point the PS2 really exploded it sales.

    • If they keep the price the same, it makes the PS4 look like an even better deal, and could increase those sales.

  2. Another blow for the Wii U, with Guillemot saying what every big publisher in the world is probably thinking right now. Also, on a slightly pedantic note, that 1001 Spikes trailer is in dire, dire need of a proof read.

  3. David Hayter “trolling” just comes across as bitter and needy… Fans love him, but I can’t really stand him.

  4. Yes please, some Vita love would be nice.

  5. More Vita games would indeed, be nice. Like others have said, PS3 doesn’t need a price cut as it’s pretty cheap as it is & it makes the PS4 look like a great bargain.
