PlayStation Store Update: 25/09/13 - FIFA 14, Lone Survivor & DoA 5 Ultimate

The most confusing update yet.

It’s that time of the week again, where all the new games are added to the PlayStation Store. Except in this case, you might not be able to get to the store in order to buy/download them, because PSN maintenance is currently under way until the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Our pro tip would be to go to the browser-based store, and do your digital trolley pushing there. It’s time to add a bunch of new free games to your basket anyway, as October’s PS+ update has hit home today.

Lets start off with the only game that doesn’t have any exceptions or provisos this week, as Armored Core: Verdict Day hits home for £34.99. You know what? Lets call it £35, and we can all pretend that everything is a penny more than it really is, just for this week.

The rest of the games are all trickier to explain. Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut is new this week, but this Cross-Buy title came out yesterday for some crazy reason, and will cost £10. If you think that it being a Curve Studios release of an Indie hit means it’s going to pop up on PS+, then you can think again. It won’t, or at least not in this lifetime.

Ratchet: Gladiator is also hitting the digital shelves today, but SD TV owners should beware, as it’s for HDTVs only. Oh, and and don’t put down the £12 just yet if you’re elligible for a freebie from buying R&C: QForce before May.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate also get in a bit of silliness, with a £32 standalone version, alongside a £30 unlock for a free-to-play Core Fighters edition. Unless you’re in Germany, in which case the “free-to-play” game the rest of us enjoy will actually cost half a Euro. Just because.

(Apparently you can’t have free to play 16+ games, according to our very own Josh)

You really shouldn’t buy FIFA 14 on PS Vita for £45, let alone the £20 which the PSP version is charging. These are both classed as “legacy” editions, and are merely re-skinned versions of last year’s games. FIFA 14 on PS3, though, is fair game in my opinion, but you’ll be paying £60 for the privilege of having it on your hard drive. In each case, the game isn’t actually out until Friday.

As usual, there’s a smattering of DLC, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s Apocalypse pack arriving for £11.59 the most remarkable addition.

I’m going to leave it there. My head hurts.

Really getting tired of the awful customer service (or lack of) being displayed by the eu store team. on too many occasions they just maintain complete silence when things dont turn up, and then never say another word about it

netflix on vita and counter strike being a few examples. It really is a shambles

They really need to get their act together for PS4 or they’ll end up getting a bad name and will lose customers

Perhaps they are not allowed to say something? Or Netflix havent submitted the app or it failed? Have you asked the publishers why Counterstrike is not out.

Thats a fair point but I can’t see giving no response whatsoever is good customer service, you’d think they’d be able to at least come up with some kind of comment on those situations.

what also doesn’t help are the constant litany of errors with store downloads not working, spelling mistakes, advertising things at the wrong prices etc. it’s all that stuff that makes me less likely to give them the benefit of the doubt, it could well be down to a publisher or whoever but the store team don’t exactly engender a sense of trust when they make such constant scoolboy errors

Lone Survivor for me. Have TSA reviewed this? If so, when is it going up?

The store and online mutliplayer still seem to be working at the moment. The PS blog post said maintenance starts 18:15 this evening, so maybe they’ve changed it.

Lone survivor is very tempting for me, but that’s it now. Want hotline miami but but i’ll hold back until the next plus update.

Still wondering, is FIFA 14 digital getting the PS4 upgrade offer? I know the disc version is, but it might make people a bit more willing if they knew the digital version was.

I don’t think either the disc or download version is getting the upgrade offer.

There was a post on the Blog a few days ago showing which games were getting the deal and how they are redeemed, and FIFA wasn’t on it.

And surely they wouldn’t forget about one of THE biggest sellers on Playstation?
