EA President Claims They Are "Longterm Supporters" Of Sony

Planning to balance their support.

While EA may have stepped towards Microsoft this generation with DLC exclusivity deals, and into the next, allowing Microsoft to package a copy of FIFA 14 in with every “Day One” version of the Xbox One, EA president Frank Gibeau has moved to assure PlayStation fans that they’re behind Sony’s next console, which releases next month.

“We’re not tilting Microsoft’s way,” said Gibeau when asked about the FIFA 14 Xbox One bundle in the latest edition of Edge magazine. “We are firm longterm supporters of Sony.”

He also announced plans to balance this currently skewed support, saying “I’m sure you’ll see tactical programmes between us and Sony in the future that we haven’t announced, but will make things much more balanced.”

It’s good to see that EA are confident in Sony. While they may have faltered with the launch of the PS3, it’s clear that Sony have a good approach to the next generation. In the end, it’s all about the support, so it will be interesting to see what the next few years could bring.

Good move. Microsoft has been under all manner of fire recently and EA really needs to look after both parties… especially with (what looks to be) greater sales parity over the coming launches. Hell, if the X1 looks to be the weaker console two years in, EA will definitely want to keep Sony fans sweet.

I really can’t see the big fuss of this game. I think the jet pack thing puts me off more than anything.

E.A:If we can make a massive pile of cash from it, we’re supporters, it’s how a buisness works.

They seemed ok supporters of PS3 in few games of theirs i bought:Dead space 2 might have been lacking compared to the 1st, but i got the HD upgraded Wii game on same disc, MOH had the Frontline on there (aged very badly, but it was free) etc.

    Just saying…..

I think EA had a relationship with Sony this gen as the adverts for their games stated on ps3.

Just how they were supporting Nintendo? I tend to not like ea as of late and it seems the word they speak should be taken with a grain of salt. First they say frostbite 3 would not run on new Wii U then NFS rivals which is running on FB3 is said to skip vita and wii u due to weak sales. Make up you minds EA. Is it weak sales or the engine. It’s like they don’t know what their own people say. I see EA becoming worst company in US for 3rd time in a row.
