Project CARS Coming To Next-Gen Consoles

Slightly Mad Studios has announced that crowd-powered racer, Project CARS, will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U.

“Project CARS has always led the pack in terms of insane detail,” said Ian Bell, Head Of Studio. “Whether that’s graphically in the craftsmanship of our cars and tracks, technically in the way we’ve approached weather and time of day, or emotionally in how each car feels and responds to your touch. These powerful new platforms allow us therefore to not compromise on the quality of our vision and ultimately that means players are going to experience something truly breathtaking when they get behind the wheel.”

The game includes a franchise mode that allows you to carve out a personalized career starting in the Karting world and then progressing on to whichever motorsport specialization you prefer including Rally, Touring Cars, Open-Wheel, GT, Le Mans and others.

Project CARS is scheduled for release next Autumn.

  1. Great stuff :) can never have too many racers

  2. I’m unsure how well this type of sim will do on consoles, I hope it does well but I’ll be playing the version with mod-support and grinning like a madman.

  3. Finally, a new rival for GT and Forza. This looks like it has more cars on track and actual damage modelling!

  4. I’ve been keeping up to date with this game for quite a while now and have been pleased with just about everything to do with it. It’s developing into what should be one of the best racers around, really looking forward to this.

  5. Good call!

  6. Don’t want to be too critical on the showing of a trailer but the crash physics look a bit odd to me. But looking forward to giving it a go.

  7. As someone who’s trying to remain objective as can be with the racing genre (one that fascinates me as much as it stops me playing anything recently because nothing seems to grab me at present – weird, huh?), the Gran Turismo franchise feels misplaced with its visual direction. Never has a trailer put its finger on why that’s so, so obviously. Lighting. The lighting in this makes everything feel so, so real compared to Gran Turismo. There are other factors and it’s also interesting to experience a feeling of “oh… the detail on the models is superb, just like Gran Turismo” but have so much more along with it. That trailer knocks the Turismo visuals into a cocked hat as far as I’m concerned. Equally, I could see TSA racers enjoying this like no other, as long as there’s the slickness of presentation and options that we’ve grown to appreciate with other racing games.

    • There’s just a “slight” difference in hardware though… So I’m not sure what you’re expecting.

  8. Ehm… They’re all driving the same car, no wonder there’s more on track. And there’s not many cars in it either based on that trailer. Not impressed.

  9. Had this on my pc, i paid to have a build of the game every month as it offered improvements. Was seriously sexy looking and the sounds of the cars were amazing but the last build i played (over a year ago) didnt have any online element just lap times to beat. This will indeed give forza and GT a good run for their money. They have F1 cars, le man, german touring cars karts etc but last time i played it the game never offered performance upgrades so it is different from Forza/GT.

  10. Any racing game that allows you to drive a Ford Capri has got to be a winner!
