Call of Duty Ghosts has taken up most of my time this week, and after finishing off the story I can’t believe I’m going to have to wait two years to play the sequel! There’s also just six days until the PS4 is released in the US, and 20 days for us in the UK and Europe. So, with lots of stuff to look forward to, let’s look back over the past 7 days in this week’s Community Round-Up!
Once again, we’ve teamed up with MusicMagpie for a great competition. Together, we’re giving away a Hardened Edition of Call of Duty Ghosts on PS4. To enter, simply drop us a comment with what is your favourite COD moment or memory. The competition closes 23:59PM GMT on Wednesday 20th November, and we’ll announce the winner shortly afterwards.
MusicMagpie are running their own competition too, with the top prize being a PS4 and the Hardened Edition of Ghosts, second prize being the Hardened Edition on PS4 and a third place prize of a standard copy of Ghosts on PS4. Their competition ends 6th December, and I’m sure you all agree that it’s well worth entering!
I’ve set up my own Meet for later tonight, so if you’re free at 8pm and fancy playing some COD Ghosts, then jump in and make the most of the double XP weekend! There aren’t any other Meets right now, but if COD isn’t really your thing then you can always add your own Meet to the list, providing you’ve got more than 250 TSA Points.
It was a quiet week on the Preview side, with both of them coming from Stefan. Crytek’s first next-gen appearance with Ryse: Son of Rome sounds awesome with its brutal QTE’s, and Forza 5‘s Cloud AI sounds extremely clever and interesting, as he spoke to Dan Greenawalt about the game for this article.
You’ll be glad to know we had a few more Reviews than just the two Previews, and boy did we have some big ‘uns! Battlefield 4 received a 7/10, with Stefan criticising the bugs and generally poor singleplayer, but loving the refined multiplayer aspect, especially when playing with 64 players on PC.
Arch nemesis, Call of Duty: Ghosts received a 8/10, citing the new Squads AI and fast paced multiplayer being great, while a lack of innovation perhaps isn’t to everyone’s liking. There’s also a PS3 and PS4 comparison video, and an interview with Roy Stackhouse, Activision UK’s MD.
Fans of trading card games should check out Jim’s review of the Expansion for Magic 2014, while Gamoc gave a 7/10 to Forced, which is a cooperative arena-based action RPG for PC. Tidying up the Reviews was Blair, who looked at Typing of the Dead: Overkill and also Knack’s Quest for Mobile Watch.
Onto the Community articles now, and the Chronicle featured yet more comments about next-gen resolutions, a lack of DLNA, and Blockbuster’s demise in Hot Topics. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is already receiving favourable comments in WeView, as Hotline Miami received 7 ‘Buy It’ votes in its WeView Verdict.
The Forums are still absent while the team work on a suitable solution to the flaws discovered last week, and so that’s it for this time. Much of my weekend will be taken up by Ghosts and watching Rugby, let me know if you’ve got anything better planned, and I’ll see you all next week!
