Podcast: Episode 122 - Gran Turismo 6, Arkham Origins and More Next Gen

Even more next gen coverage.

The thing with a new generation of consoles is that there’s generally an awful lot to talk about. That’s why we’ve once again got a significant focus on the PS4 and Xbox One this week, with Peter having played Zoo Tycoon, Killzone Shadow Fall, FIFA 14 and Resogun. Teflon’s also played a bit of Resogun, which is lucky as he was filling in for the absent Lewis and Kev.

Teflon’s also been playing Gran Turismo 6, and goes into a fair bit of depth about Polyphony Digital’s newest entry into the racing arena. As for me, I’ve been spending a lot of time with a younger Batman in Arkham Origins, flying my way through the city and fighting street thugs at every opportunity.

Unfortunately the lack of Lewis means there’s no quiz this week, hopefully that will return next episode, but we do have a round up of the news and the answers to your questions.

This podcast features strong language, jokes in poor taste and adult themes, if you’re offended by that then we recommend that you don’t listen to it at all.

I wanted to wait with my comment till I hear the full version ^^

I’m quite sure that the new TSA logo, which is mainly white and blue, is what got people from Scotland to join the website. Solved. Case closed.

I sure hope they are not working on BF5 even planning and stuff. DICE should be focused on delivering BAD COMPANY 3 as an “console 4 player co-op single-player exclusive”. Each next patch on BF3 which implemented some weapon tweaks and gameplay changes was worse than the previous one, so when DICE says: “We need to focus on patches” the correct reaction should be “Ow fuck, same shit again…”. I’ve had over 800h at online BF3, but I’m more and more convinced about skipping the forth part. I agree with Kris about DICE, they are just fucking things up and not care about it too much. That is why there goes a saying: “You have been DICEed” :)

Never liked tycoon like games, maybe because I never actually played much PC games.

Women football should be added to FIFA alongside the feature to trade shirts after the match. Guarantee for top selling sports game. In terms of women football I watched it from time to time on EuroSport, like the World/Euro Cup. It’s really good and sometimes (what it strange) much “brutal” than man + from what I noticed there is less acting (shame on man football).

So many good things on TSA about GT6. The review, Teflons comments (one objection: Nooooooooooooooooooooooo, no story, hell no. What kind of idea is this?), everything is just pushing me into buying it, while I really wanted to wait till the price drops and several patches come in. GT5 currently is like GT5,75, thanks to the patches and add-ons they released, so hearing that GT6 is even better is great. The suspension model seems to be excellent, I totally agree with how much this adds to the feeling of car driving sim. Damn you Polyphony!

Batman looks nice, but I have still to buy Arkham City GOTY, so not really interested in it.

I played a bit Resogun with my friend who was lucky to buy a PS4 at the console premiere and it’s great. Looks just mind blowing and has a very arcade, old-school, hardcore vibe about it. A well done launch title for a console I would say.

At the same time as above, I played a bit of Killzone: SF. The story is just ‘not there’. The start of the game is so not well done, well me and my friend always liked Killzone games story and we both know how the 3rd part ended, so we were expecting some connections to it, but there aren’t any actually. “Our planet was destroyed, now we live on a part of the planet which was given to us and we build our new nation there, separated it from the other, build a army there” – WHAT?! HOW?! The flashbacks at start of the game? What the hell was that?! It’s just rubbish. It looks beautiful, plays well, has a great multiplayer, but I WANT KILLZONE 4 badly now.

I have to say I enjoyed this podcast really much. All podcast are always great to listen to, lots of funny stuff and games, BUT this one was special, because for the first time in a long while there were mainly console playable games, not some mobile crap. Keep it up guys ^^
