Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty Gets A Brand New Gameplay Trailer At GDC

It’s been a while since we saw any gameplay from Just Add Water’s remake of the seminal platformer. In fact, it’s been so long that they’ve switched game engines and completely remade it all since then.

This is the first gameplay trailer, which has just debuted at GDC in San Francisco and I think you’ll agree, it’s looking fantastic. Everything had been built from the ground up to faithfully recreate Abe’s Oddysee but it doesn’t really look like the Abe’s Oddysee I played on the original PlayStation, it’s the one I remember in my heavily embellished, nostalgia fuelled dreams.

That’s what I love most about this project, I think – that Just Add Water were able to extrapolate something that looks just how I think it does from such relatively low resolution source material. And it’s all so alive and vivid and dynamic, too.

If you listened to our recent interview special podcast with Lorne Lanning and Stewart Gilray, you’ll know that we’re big fans of the game and we’ve got high hopes for this remake too. Hopefully the trailer above and these new screenshots below make it obvious why we’re so excited for it.
