Community Round-Up: 05/04/14

The Round-Up is brimming with content this week, mostly thanks to Stefan and his previews from Rezzed, but we’ve also got a few Reviews andall our usual Features from the gang. So, seeing as we’ve got a lot to cover, let’s dive right in with this week’s Community Round-Up!

Starting with the competitions, and all credit to Tony, he’s been super busy this week! He started by setting out the format for the FIFA 14 Ultimate Team Competition, and also brought us the results of the Plus Points Dead Nation Challenge. He also has an update to see how the Championship Table is currently standing, with Lieutenant Fatman and X1BALBAABLAB1X starting to pull away. There’s still plenty of time for you to reel them in during future rounds, though!

Along with Monday’s usual GT6 Meet, TSAgents will also be hitting the race track on Wednesday night, this time with Avenger hosting MotoGP 13 on Vita. The lights go out at 8pm, and they’ll be trying to grab a few online trophies too.

If racing isn’t your thing, you can always organise your own Meet, providing you’ve got more than 250 TSA Points.

Stefan is back on form with 7 Previews this week, all thanks to Rezzed! He starts things off with Not A Hero from the creators of OlliOlli (who Stefan also spoke to here), who have taken their fast-paced game style to the cover shooter genre, while Team17 (best known for their Worms games) have a pop at a new IP, with their lemmings-style game, Flockers.

Next up was Forma.8, a lovely looking Unity based game, while Hotline Miami 2 looks set to please fans with more of what everyone loved from the first game. TRI, where triangles are everywhere, looks like a unique and interesting puzzle game, while Light, a top-down stealth game, also looks like it could be one to keep your eye on.

The last two games featured from Rezzed were The Escapists, in which you are tasked with breaking out of prison, and Alien: Isolation, which looks far better than last year’s game.

Onto the Reviews now and, in ascending order, Jim gave a 4/10 to Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, before then awarding a 6/10 to the awesomely gruesome Deception IV: Blood Ties. The top game this week is MXGP, the official Motocross game, which received a solid 7/10 from Greg.

While not quite a Review, Peter shared his thoughts about The Elder Scrolls Online, as Jim describes The Collectables as “easily one of the best mobile games to launch this year” in Mobile Watch.

From the usual features, Bully appeared in a Matter of Perspective from Aran, while Jim replayed Guacamelee! in PlayBack. There was also a blog post from Dom, who talked about his habits when it comes to collecting games and the shift to digital libraries.

Looking at the community articles, the Chronicle talked about Facebook and Oculus, Wolfenstein’s gameless collectors edition, and rumours surrounding The Last of Us on PS4. Meanwhile on WeView, Splinter Cell: Blacklist saw a tied Verdict between Buy It and Bargain Bin It, as Gran Turismo 6 becomes the new game for this week.

Rounding things off in the usual way, What We Played hit the 150 milestone, while the Podcast was back up to full strength in Episode 135.

Time to head on into the Forums, to do our usual digging:

  • McPhatty simply asks Nintendo 64 vs PlayStation? FIGHT!
  • Youles updates the screenshot thread with some Tomb Raider snaps.
  • Mercenary Kings was released on PSN earlier this week, and matthangzhou is loving it – but what do you think?
  • And lastly I ask what are you hoping will appear at this year’s E3?

That’s all there is for this week, but do take a minute to head into the Forums; perhaps you’ve got some screenshots to share, or maybe you’re dying to see some gameplay for a certain game at E3. You might like to share about a game series that you’d love to see transition to the new generation?

Get posting and I’ll see you next week! Bye!
