TSA’s FIFA 14 Ultimate Team Competition: Week Three – Results & Fixtures

With the second week of matches under our belts, the overall picture from the group stages of TSA’s FIFA Ultimate Team Tournament is starting to take shape. This week, everybody faced off against their second opponent, with another bout of great sounding matches and tussles for victory. If you’d like to read some of the match reports or read up on some of the banter between the players, head on over to the official tournament forum thread here.

Though there are a handful of players who are now secured in their place in the knockout stages, many of the groups are still wide open for people to qualify as this week will see people playing their final pair of matches and the six points that are still up for grabs. Of course, there are also a few players who cannot mathematically progress, but then again, there’s always pride to play for and a little upset here or a grizzled rearguard action there can easily decide who it is that does qualify.

Please complete this week’s fixtures and report the results by 6PM BST on Tuesday 29th April.

Let’s head over to group one to see where we stand with that.

Group One

An excellent group, this one, who are all doing a great job of getting all your games played early in the week!

Should be quite an interesting week coming up with any two out of the top three still capable of qualifying for the knockout stages, though Tom is sadly out of the running already.

Fixtures to be played:

Roynaldo vs. tomhlord (THLnetwork)

Marvzilla vs. jimmy-google

Group Two

Another group here that’s turning out to be very interesting with all four teams still capable of qualifying, though looking at the goal differences Amphlett will have to go on an all-out attack to leapfrog the two above him.

Yung Jones (YungJones) has already qualified with a ridiculous goal difference of +20 from his matches so far, making him an early favourite in this tournament.

Group Three

Though sadly it’s now impossible for commissar_dave to qualify from this group any two of the top three could still qualify for the knockout stages. It should make for a very interesting set of fixtures, as commissar_dave could cause an upset an take some crucial points off Baggyg, while it looks like jonny_bolton vs. wick15 could be the game to watch in this one!

Group Four

Big thanks in this group to Azian-Temptazian for stepping in and replacing Tarbun84 at short notice though his results this week now make it mathematically impossible for him to qualify. Any two from the top three can still make it into the knockout stages, though!

Group Five

Sadly the BerackyWack Vs BrendanCalls matches weren’t possible this week due to the PSN maintenance being scheduled when they’d arranged their matches. This leaves us with some extra games to finish up the group this week but fingers crossed they can all get completed in time!

At this stage it’s still all to play for with all four players still capable of making the knockout stages.

Group Seven

Nidasbym (murguia_martin) could be running away with this group with 4 big wins as he caught up on his missed matches with BRY from last week. Still, all four teams are capable of qualifying from this group.

  1. Hmm, my group will be interesting. Since no one has played MrJaggySnake we don’t know how good he is, so cannot predict how things will go – if he’s good then I could easily find myself out of the competition.

Great organisation from Tony and Teflon, cheers guys!

  2. How many points do we need to qualify to knockout stage ?

    • Mathematically I think 1 more point will be enough for you, given your remaining fixtures.

    • It’s done like the Champions League, so it’s the top 2 players from each group that go through.

You just need 1 more point to secure a spot, but ideally you want to top the group so that you play the 2nd place player from a different group, drawn at random.

  3. Okay thanks a lot buddy ^

  4. Been really fun so far. Thanks for the organisation! Always give me a bit of excitement to read through the groups. Unless my maths are rubbish (possible) I think I have already qualified since the 2nd and 3rd are playing each other and there is not enough points to take both of them above me, so that settles my nerves a bit. However just like in real life I think winning the group could be very important based upon the talent in other groups.

    • Oh, good shout! We hadn’t spotted that one, but yeah, looks like you’re relatively safe.

  5. Whoa, looks like Nidasbym is shit hot at FIFA, great!! An upset by me would seem a slim chance right now but you never know, it’s a funny old game.

After 4 games played I think I should be 3rd in the group on goal difference but fully understand that it saves you having to move me down to 4th next week ;)

    • Woops you’re right, doesn’t make a massive difference but you’re right! Still you need to win both of your last 2 matches to qualify. Good luck!

      • Fixed.

      • Certainly not a huge difference but at least let me slide down the table gradually :) Thanks tef.

Going to play my next matches in a few mins, wish me luck, I’ll need it.

  6. Do I dare spend real money on fake coins just so I can cobble together a half decent team…?

The answer is no buy the way. I like having a team of plucky (read crap) underdogs.

  7. I must win against Yiddo93 to qualify!

    • Not necessarily. A draw and a loss could potentially see you qualify, depending on how heavy the loss is and the result in the other matches.

    • I think you’re safe to be honest lol.

      • Are you Jose Mourinho? :P
Will message you for our availability

      • Haha yes, the mind games have begun ;)

  8. YungJones to win the tournament! He absolutely slaughtered me and it looks like Colmshan also took a good beating.
My advice to TopGearSam against YungJones would be to ‘park the bus’ and don’t even think about venturing further than the half way line as you’ll be picked off.

    • Set the team to ultra-defensive, counter attacking and get yourself the fastest striker you possibly can…

      • You think I didn’t try that?!! :P

      • You think I didn’t try that?!! :P

Things got very painful when I did attack- and down to 10 men too. :(

    • Oh I don’t know, there’s some strong players here, look at nidasbym record too!

      • Yep, nidasbym is very good with the ball. He beat me comfortably and I was on a 12 win streak at the time!

  9. Jonnybolton v Wick is going to be a couple of big matches. You guys should try and live stream them, essentially they’re knockout matches.

    • I basically play Fifa like Chelsea play Champions League football. The games will not be enjoyable for the neutral.

  10. Just a thought here guys, there’s going to be a random draw for the knockout stage fixtures. Would you watch it if we live streamed the draw? Would more than likely take place next Wednesday evening.
