Lucina, Robin & Captain Falcon Punch & Slash Their Way To Super Smash Bros.

Nintendo has released a new trailer for Super Smash Bros. which has revealed a trio of new characters that will be present in the fighting game. Two of the characters are new to the franchise, those being Lucina and Robin from Fire Emblem: Awakening. Chrom also makes an appearance but rather as an assist than a fully independent, selectable character. With Robin you have the choice to play either as the male or female versions.

Making his return to the Super Smash Bros. is Captain Falcon, and no doubt ready to Falcon Punch all contenders who stand in his way. In fact he almost pulls one off in the trailer but is interrupted by Robin. It’s a good reveal trailer that shows off the styles of the two new characters, with Robin focusing on ranged lightning attacks, while Lucina jumps quickly into the fray with her sword. Captain Falcon becomes one of their victims in the trailer.

Super Smash Bros. is releasing on 3DS on October 3rd, while the Wii U version will follow soon after.

  1. Glad to hear this; Falcon has always been one of my fave Smash Bros characters!

  2. Ain’t no Smash Bros without the Captain!

Lucina and Robin have been highly requested, so it’s nice to see them added. I hope they’re implementing many variants of Robin though, as (s)he’s not called that nor look like that in any of my savefiles. Being a player avatar and all.

There’s a lot of women in this Smash now, very nice. They’ve been underrepresented in previous releases.

It seems Chrom is Robins final Smash, not an assist trophy. Look at Robins animations in that short clip, you don’t get that with other assists. It’s pretty funny how the trailer basically makes fun of the rumour that Chrom was in as playable.
