A new game studio, Panache Digital Games, has been formed by Patrice Désilets, who you may remember as the creator of the Assassin’s Creed series and the center of a bit of drama a few years ago when he left Ubisoft voluntarily to found THQ Montreal, only to be pulled back under the Ubisoft umbrella when THQ went belly up. Patrice was let go just a few months later, which he publicly spoke out against, noting that leaving the company was not his choice and that he intended to fight for his rights upon departure.
Fast forward to today and the birth of Panache – which means ‘flamboyant confidence of style or manner’ according to my dictionary – which Patrice is building with the help of another former Assassin’s Creed developer, Jean-Francois Boivin, who was the producer on Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood.
No word on what they’ll be working on just yet but hopefully it will have the kind of appeal and quality Assassin’s Creed II had (the last AC game Patrice worked on), as it remains arguably the highest point of the franchise.

Seems to have been a direct correlation between the last time quality and innovation was put into the AC series and his departure. Hopefully this means we get a new studio who put creative IPs, quality of gaming and interesting ideas at the forefront of their motivations. Like ubisoft used to.

At least he won’t take any flak over the Unity debacle.
