Community Round-Up: 28/02/15

The final pre-season F1 test is halfway through, and we’re starting to get a good idea of what we can expect from this year’s season; another close battle between the Mercedes drivers, although it looks like some of the teams have closed the gap a tad. Then there’s the Six Nations Championship, which arguably has it’s decider this weekend, with the two strongest-looking teams so far going head to head, and there’s also some football final thing going on, or so I’m told from people in work (is it obvious I’m not a football fan?).

But forget about the top weekend of sport for a moment, and let’s turn our attention to gaming in this week’s Community Round-Up!

This week on the meets, there will be the usual GT6 on Monday and Battlefield on Friday. Also joining them will be GTA V on Tuesday, following on from last week’s Meet which was great fun.

If you’d rather play something else, you can add your own Meet to the list, provided you have more than 250 TSA Points.

Let’s start with the reviews and this week’s high scorer, which was Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Episode 1. Mark gave is an 8/10, calling the gunplay “satisfying” and praising the “greater emphases on action”, while Aran this week looked at The Deer God. In his 7/10 review, he says that you “experience the life of a deer by eating food, avoiding predators, and shooting fireballs” which I’m sure will instantly appeal to some of you out there!

Dom was a busy guy this week, bringing us three reviews. They were, Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round, Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late and Pneuma: Breath Of Life, all earning a 7/10. The first two are fighting games, while the last one is more of an ‘experience’ with puzzles in it, that he says is worth encountering.

The last couple of reviews earned themselves a 6/10 and 5/10 respectively. Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires was reviewed by Jim, who liked the huge amount of content, but disliked how it didn’t push the boundaries at all. Pillar, which was from Aran, is a PS4 game based upon the Myers-Briggs Type indicator (MBTi) personality assessment. It turns out he wasn’t a fan of the gameplay, and found it felt too much like a personality test, rather than a fun game.

Fans of Resogun should check out the Defenders DLC, which adds two new modes that Jim thoroughly enjoyed and found well worth the price. Meanwhile, it was business as usual for Stefan who began the week with a look at Sniper Elite’s Zombie Army Trilogy, before then chatting to Kris about said zombie shooting. He also rewrote WW2 history in Hearts of Iron IV, explored the new Europa Universalis IV DLC and had a chat with the top brass from Paradox Interactive.

Lastly, he looked at the Kickstart-ed War for the Overworld, developed by fans of the old Dungeon Keeper games, and The Technomancer. From the creators of Bound By Flame, the game is set in a parallel universe to Mars: War Logs, and could hopefully flesh out the RPG genre for PS4 owners.

Elsewhere, Jim interviewed composer Jason Graves, who’s worked on the likes of Evolve and The Order 1886. This weeks WeView Verdict for Driveclub was unanimously positive, while the new game is Assassin’s Creed Unity. In last week’s Chronicle, I talked about The Order: 1886, Lara Croft and Sony’s business plans for the future.

Finishing off like we usually do, there was Episode 170 of the Podcast, and What We Played #192 featured The Order, Dying Light and Deer God.

Let’s delve into the Forums, to see what’s happening

  • JustTaylorNow has revived the Films thread with his thoughts on Kingsman and The Gambler.
  • And also wants to know your twitter handles.
  • Lastly, The Order’s thread is still going strong, with a couple of nice screenshots too.

That’s your regular dose of Round Up for this week, I’ll see you again in a week’s time – bye!

  1. Thanks for the mention and yes it was brilliant fun. It might be more organised this week but I doubt it.

    • I had a good laugh last time, it depends if I bite the bullet and get Plus if I can come this week. Will probably wait to see what’s on offer for the free games in March and then decide.
