I don’t think I’ve ever come across a gamer that doesn’t like Mario Kart. It’s a fantastic series that captures the essence of fun in gaming perfectly. Judging from this week’s WeView Mario Kart 8 only continues the trend.
There was nothing but praise for Mario Kart 8 in the comments this week. The game “just got everything right” for Zoolar with it being their game of the year for them by quite some distance.
Of all the recent Mario Kart games Kennykazey said “the racing is clearly the best” in Mario Kart 8, with the anti-gravity, that “isn’t just another gimmick”, adding a new dimension to the game. They continued “it genuinely changes not only the freedom for track-design but also the way you play the game”. They also welcomed the return of coins which “make every part of the track feel like a small optional challenge”. All in all “what you get is so close to Kart-racer perfection you can taste it”.
“One year on, I’m still playing it every time I get a group of friends together” Blair explained. He continued “Nintendo’s approach to the DLC has been really great – in terms of what it offers, when it’s coming, and how little it costs”. Blair wasn’t the only one impressed with the DLC for the game. Sadodi thought “that the courses in the DLC are way better than those in the real game”, later going on to say “without the DLC, I don’t really think that I would like the game as much as I do right now”.
The only real issue with Mario Kart 8 that was touched upon was the Battle Mode. James.warne.jw said “It just feels like with Mario Kart 8 they got almost everything spot on, with the obvious exception of Battle Mode”. Blair also called the mode “lame”, and for Kennykazey the game would be perfection “if only it wasn’t for the Battle Mode”.
There were Buy It votes all round for Mario Kart 8, five in total. It seems Mario Kart 8 is a must have on the Wii U and it’s highly recommended you pick up the DLC which makes it even better.
In tomorrow’s WeView we’ll be looking at zombie survival title, Dying Light. Below you can vote on the game for next week’s WeView.

You say you’ve never come across a gamer that doesn’t like Mario Kart. And generally there’s always a lot of praise when Mario is discussed.
What I think is ignored usually is that there’s quite a few people who would never go anywhere near a Mario game, as it’s just not their thing. And that’s maybe why those people wouldn’t say anything negative about these games, as they just don’t care.
Kennykazey
Thanks for the mention. The new tracks are great, and I’ve unpacked my Villager Amiibo for a new Mii racing suit.
I played some Mario Kart 64 this weekend… the series has evolved a lot more than people give it credit for. 64 is still a good game, but parts of it seem almost broken in comparison. Except Battlemode.
stueeeee
I haven’t got a wii u but have played all the others and still play mk7. Just out of interest is it still possible to do the so called snaking? It’s still there on 7 just about.
Voolar
I think you might have meant “Voolar”…
The DLC has been superb as well – and 200cc stuff is crazy :)
