Community Round-Up: 16/05/15

It was a busy week for the reviews here on TSA, and we had quite a range of scores too. It seems lots of smaller games are being released about now, although we are also in the window for a few big ‘uns such as The Witcher 3 which arrives next week.

So, as there’s a lot to cover, we might as well get started with this week’s Community Round-Up!

Looking at the Meets, Monday will see the first Project Cars meet, followed by Battlefield on Friday, with a few GTA V Heists meets thrown in also.

If you’d rather play something else, you can add your own Meet to the list, provided you have more than 250 TSA Points.

As I mentioned before it, we had a good helping of reviews this week, so let’s crack on with them. Lost Orbit was our high-scorer this week, sitting on a 9/10. Aran loved the game, finding the gameplay fun and visuals enjoyable. Next up was Project Cars, which Tef gave an 8/10 to. It seems that despite a few launch bugs, underneath is a solid racer that covers a wide range of racing on real world tracks.

Also on an 8/10 was Not A Hero, the latest creation from Roll7. Fans of OlliOlli, the developer’s previous game will definitely enjoy this one, which is similarly difficult and rewarding at the same time. Tef also spoke with Roll7’s Tom Hegarty about the game and BunnyLord, the time travelling purple rabbit.

Dropping down to 7/10, we had Knights of Pen & Paper 2, and Ultraton. Teflon found the former an improvement over the first game, while Tuffcub found Ultraton to be similar to other twin stick shooters we’ve seen, although enjoyed the local co-op and found the game to be well polished.

Finally, on a 5/10s were Breach & Clear and Toren. Miguel thought Breach & Clear didn’t transition to Vita very well, with poor visuals and unreadable text, while on the other hand, Jim found that Toren had ‘gorgeous’ visuals but was let down by its minimalist mechanics and lack of immersion.

Meanwhile with the previews, Tef had a look at PayDay 2 Crimewave Edition, which is more than the cash grab it appears to be. He also did a video preview for Splatoon, where he and Dom had a look at what paint-splattering enthusiasts can expect when it’s released on Wii U.

Dom looked at Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD on PS4, and what it means for the future of the Final Fantasy series. Elsewhere, Mobile Watch this week looked at Microgue, which Jim describes as a game that takes the roguelike genre traits and “condenses them into a bitesize package perfect for playing on-the-go”.

From the Community articles, Evolve didn’t have a good WeView Verdict, which is looking like the total opposite for The Order 1886, which is flying along. Meanwhile on the Chronicle, PS Now glitches, EA’s shareholder meeting, and Schrödinger’s Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark were discussed in Hot Topics.

Episode 178 of the Podcast was an Avengers: Age of Ultron special, while What We Played #203 featured GTA, Project Cars and Not A Hero.

Let’s hop into the Forums, although they’ve been a bit quiet again this week:

  • RudeAwakening’s thread about your most anticipated title for 2015 is still going strong
  • And my Driveclub vs Project Cars thread is worth checking out to share your opinions on the games, or it may be useful if you’re undecided like me

That’s all there is this week, I’ll catch you next time – bye!

  1. Would love to see the TSA forums having a small bit of the NeoGAF success…just a small bit, I won’t be greedy! :)
