EA have announced the latest in the Need for Speed series, but the full reveal is scheduled for E3 next month. For now you will have to make do with a nice teaser trailer with cars racing about but no gameplay.
Developers Ghost Games, the team who worked on Need for Speed Rivals, have explained that they have been listening to the community and their ideas and suggestions have influenced the new game.
“The feedback you’ve provided across every medium possible has urged us forward, and directed us towards our goals and not a day has gone past where we’ve not been indulging ourselves in what you want,” say Ghost Games.
“When NFS launches later this year you will be able to fully customise a car, in the process turning it into a truly unique resident of your garage,” the add.
“We’re bringing NFS back with a reboot that delivers on what Need for Speed stands for – rich customisation, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that drives your NFS experience.”
The game will be out on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

I really hope this is a bit like Underground, then I’m going to be all over it like a nasty, nasty rash.
camdaz
Yeah, the last one wasn’t that good.
Amphlett
Are you referring to the rash or the game?

I hope so as well, I instantly thought of it when I saw the screenshots. NFS Underground 2 was the best game of the series IMO. I’d like to see a similar game this time round. I’m bored of all the cop vs racers, take downs etc. The cops are way to over powered and it gets far to boring.

Speedhunters.com seems to be a big part of it’s development (see here: http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/05/need-for-speed-is-reborn-and-were-helping/) which suggests it’s back to having properly modified cars in a big way. Whether you can add the parts on or whether they’re pre-built cars is to be seen. Can’t say I ever expected to see an RWB styled Porsche or a Hakosuka Skyline in a NFS game

That final paragraph says everything and now has me very interested. Back to the roots that made it a success in the first place.
I hope we have all the cars that lots of people modify in real life.
arrybags
Really interested in this.
If this is a return to form for NFS I hope other devs/publishers follow the lead and allow certain franchises a year off.

Give me ‘normal’ cars to modify into beasts and I’ll be very happy. I hate the current direction of NFS games that seem to just focus on sports and super cars.
