Women’s football has been slowly but surely gaining a larger profile over the last few years, with more mainstream reporting of the key events and matches alongside the still dominant global presence of men’s football. In a fantastic move by EA, FIFA 16 is set to include 12 Women’s National Teams in the game, giving them the full FIFA game treatment, from recreating their likenesses to full motion capture of players.
With the World Cup this summer, those twelve teams are the top teams in the world right now, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and the United States of America. The USA get to claim bragging rights for having four of their players – Sydney Leroux, Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan, and Megan Rapinoe – providing the motion capture work.
Abby Wambach, the record holding international goals scorer, said, “I honestly can’t believe all of the science and technology behind the game itself, let alone getting us into the motion capture suits and eventually into the game. We’re all excited to see ourselves in the game, but even more excited to see the reaction from all of the fans, including the fans of our team that maybe wouldn’t be expecting something like this from EA SPORTS.”
Outside of that, the press release also let slip a release date for the game of September 22nd in the US – and presumably 24th in the EU and 25th in the UK following the typical regional release variation – with the women’s teams included on the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game.

Very, very pleased by this, hopefully we’ll start to get clubs soon too.

Will be interesting to see female stats compared to male stats. I wonder if I can put them against each other Madrid vs female England team or England vs England
colmshan1990
No, they’ll be kept separate.
Because of that, I imagine the best female players will be rated very highly as they’ll only come up against other women’s teams rather than the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.

I don’t believe you’ll be able to play men against women, so their stats might not be comparable.

Looking forward to FIFA16, purely so FIFA15 becomes cheap and I can pick it up for a bargain!
Galiophaurus
Is this the only thing new? how will this make the majority people upgrade from fifa 15?
Kronik76
Because generally most people always do!

that’s great, probably not gonna be enough to get me to play the game, but it’s great for all the women and girls who do like the Fifa games.
and it’ll be great to see the women’s game get some representation.
should be interesting when this news reaches the cesspool that is n4g, watch how they’ll bleat about the “feminist agenda”
incidentally, i went to the England v Germany women’s match at Wembley a while ago.
first time going to Wembley for me.
great experience, shame about the result.

Cool! another good recent move from EA, they absolutely did not have to do this, it’s bound to be not a quick weekend job to put several national teams worth of players into the game, never mind a whole new gender!

Maybe someone should point out to EA that there’s a little bit of a FIFA scandal headlining the news today.
