Here’s 10 Minutes Of Raw XCOM 2 Gameplay

In case you didn’t know, Firaxis is busy beavering away on a sequel to 2012’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Announced shortly before E3, XCOM 2 is due to release exclusively on PC later this year, bringing with it a number of revisions to the award-winning sci-fi strategy game.

After baiting fans with a brief teaser trailer, 2K Games has come forward with 10 minutes of game footage, presumably stripped from one of XCOM 2’s opening missions.

It shows an elite squad of XCOM operatives looking to infiltrate a civilian rally and detonate a monument erected by their new alien overlords. It seems that, since the events of Enemy Within, the invaders have succeeded in corrupting the hearts and minds of Earth’s populace.

Aside from a noticeable visual upgrade, the 10-minute reel presents a more cinematic approach compared to XCOM: Enemy Unknown. That said, the reboot’s core tactical gameplay is still intact here, elevated by new features and a broader variety of enemy-types.

XCOM 2 is currently slated for release in November. Firaxis has always prioritised the PC development of its titles -hence the current exclusivity- yet console owners may see a port in future if the game does well enough.

  1. This was such a breath of fresh air when it first came out, really hoping it comes to PS4. Would be pretty gutted if it didn’t.

  2. With the X1 & PS4 being easier to port to I really hope this makes it to consoles. Even if sales we’re huge I’m sure they’d sell enough to make it worth it. They did rerelease Enemy Unknown after all.

  3. This looks DOPE! I can’t belive the reboot is three years old already… :-O
I hope it’s DX12, my laptop could need the help.
