The Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Beta Is Live, And Here’s How You Can Play

A little earlier than expected, the Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta has gone live today. Even though they’re better known for their single player adventures, there’s plenty of fans of Naughty Dog’s multiplayer games, and they’re no doubt eager to jump in and give UC4 a go… there’s just a few pre-requisites before you can join in the fun.

First things first, in addition to a PlayStation Plus subscription, you need to own Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection in order to play – there needs to be a game install and save data for it to let you download the beta. You then have to go to the game’s icon in the PlayStation 4 menu and find the box titles Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Beta, which is under ‘Overview’. That’ll take you to a store page where you can start the 7.137GB download.

The beta’s going to run from now until December 13th with Team Deathmatch and two maps to play on. There’s plenty of new ideas, such as being able to use the cash points earnt during a match to buy one of four AI sidekicks or one of the five mysticals.

  1. Apparently you only need a save file from the Uncharted collection. Now, if only I could find a way of getting one of those without buying the collection…

    • I think you may also need a disc to access the menu to prompt the download.

If you have a close friend/relative who you trust with your PSN ID, they could sign you in on their PS4, create a save and upload it to the cloud, and add the Beta to your Library, then deactivate your ID. Then you just download the Beta and Save File. Sorted!

I managed the tutorial last night, and the game looks very good (although it still handles rather loosely (if that makes sense – Nate scrambles about like he’s on performance enhancing drugs) which make it feel old and less realistic. Couldn’t get into a single game though which is apparently a big problem according to the Naughty Dog forums.

  2. The multiplayer is still 60fps (albeit 900p) so even if you aren’t mad about the mp (like me), you should see how quickly ND can melt your eyes in their first full PS4 game.

    • I will likely give this a go for those very reasons ;)
