Next Battlefield Out This Year, Titanfall 2 Before March 2017

An EA investor call has revealed the release windows for a number of games that have yet to be announced. “An all new Battlefield game from DICE will arrive in time for the holidays,” according to the transcript, and later on “You should assume that Battlefield would come typically in the third quarter when we normally have it.”

That’s the third quarter of the fiscal year, which is Christmas 2016 to you me. Another caller names the game as “Battlefield 5” but EA simply refer to it as “the next Battlefield”, who knows they may have another spin off planned.

“We are excited to have a new Titanfall experience coming from our friends at Respawn,” say EA, and then later add “We are not yet announcing when Titanfall or Mass Effect: Andromeda will come, but you should assume that is in the back half of the year as well because the second quarter was so dominated by our sports titles.”

So that’s Titanfall 2 and Mass Effect: Andromeda sometime before March 2017. As for that Star Wars action adventure headed up by ex Naughty Dogger Amy Henning, we won’t be seeing that for a good while.

“We are obviously announcing that we are investing in some action-based SKUs by bringing people like Jade Raymond and Amy Henning into our organization to help build those. And those are obviously a few years out in our SKU plan.”

One final note, EA are dabbling with VR but have no firm plans so far.

“We have a few key game teams around the Company who are doing targeted experiments as it relates to very engaging virtual reality experiences in the context of particular genres. I would expect that we would start to surface some of those over the coming years. And that we would start to build it into more fully fleshed experiences over time.”
