Homefront: The Revolution Will Not Have Season Pass, Extra Content Free For At Least A Year

Dambuster Studios’ Fasahat Salim  has been talking to Gamespot, and has confirmed that Homefront: The Revolution will not have a season pass. He also stated that additional content, including new missions, will be free for at least the first year. Homefront: The Revolution will have micro-transactions but nothing will be locked behind the paywall, as all items can be earned through normal play.

“All we’re offering is, for those players that don’t necessarily have the time to invest in the game, to unlock those cool things. It’s basically just a time saver for them; a shortcut to unlocking these things. They pay a little bit of money but they’re not getting anything that’s exclusive to them.”

There won’t be things like map packs with Dambuster instead opting to release missions as they’re completed, allowing for a steady feed of content. Homefront: The Revolution will release on May 20th in the UK, with North America getting the game on May 17th. It will be released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

  1. Instant Day One purchase thanks to free content for at least a year. That is how you give the Devs £44.99 and they will support the game and gamers.
Not a fan of micro-transactions and I don’t believe that as a time saver/shortcut…. I think it is just lazy! If you don’t have the time then don’t buy it!

  2. Liking this new approach more games are taking. Want us to keep the game? Give us some extra content and maybe I’ll buy an outfit or weapon along the way.

  3. I don’t currently plan on getting this, but I approve of their model. As I like to spread myself across a few games, the shortcut DLC might be something I’d buy, for a few quid. Nice that people don’t have to though, nor are there any exclusives either way.

    • Don’t know if you played Homefront before there is no need to use the shortcut as it is pretty much the same with Battlefield but more specs and abilities etc… it is just the same with NFS games as you can race to unlock no need for micro-transactions. It really is pointless as buying the game will be enough money’s worth for a lengthy game. It’s like me buying fifa points just to get an 86 rated team but only played 20 games and moved on…. really pointless.

      • Yeah, but what Youles is getting at (I believe) is that because he is spread across a few games at any one time, the timesaver stuff might actually be useful to him, as he may not necessarily have the time to put in to get those items. Essentially, he is saying that there is a purpose to these sorts of things for some people. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong Youles.

Personally, I don’t see an issue with this. If they were selling the most OP weapon in the game so that asshats could just buy it day one & pwn online, then no, that’s not good. Similarly, if it’s a thing you can get from only making a purchase with green queens, that is worse. But to their defence, it doesn’t seem to be either of those things.

Just a way for someone like Youles to get the most out of the game with the little time he has (or is likely to have) by the seems of things.

      • Huh… I guess you are right… yeah I suppose never though of spreading game out… I have decided to focus on one game at a time this year (well 6 months) and have been going well

  4. So instead of stripping out content or locking stuff behind paywalls that should be unlockables or charging for ammo, they are doing the free content for at least a year route.

WHAT KIND OF FILTH RELEASES FREE CONTENT FOR A YEAR!?
