Good news everyone, Sony’s first original video drama, Powers, created especially for the PlayStation network is finally coming to the UK.
Bad news everyone, it’s not on the PlayStation network. Spike TV have the rights to the first series and will begin broadcast on 13th May at 9pm.
Meh.

It’s a pity spike have no HD channel, I don’t watch peasant definition ;)

One day, we Peasant Defintions shall revolt! You elitist spike! :P

I need my HD because my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be and I don’t want to get glasses ;p

Damn young’uns.
Back in my day, we had to fight the tv to watch it. Many perished in their bid to watch tv but nothing was better then beating it to watch the static station. Oh, how we enjoyed the static station. BBC and ITV had nothing on it.

The title made me think this might be a PS4K post, I’ll go back to sleep now.

It reminded me of Heroes. Shame that it’s seems to be a detective thing but it is worth my attention. Powers, don’t you let me down! Rush Hour the TV series was the last thing i gave a chance. It’s crap but entertaining.
That said, i bet after one season(if it’s good), it’ll get put onto a fecking sky channel or some channel that i don’t have because i like it. Happens every fecking time.

I managed to see a few episodes and it wasn’t bad at all, Eddie Izzards character has some shocking scenes.

anybody remember that time sony said Powers was being held up by “licensing issues”, and i, repeatedly, said they were lying because they were just waiting to sell the show to another network.
o_O
so, the UK gets it, finally.
shame about most of the rest of the world, still stuck being told lies about “licensing”
it may seem like i go on about this issue a lot, but that’s only because i do.
this whole regional withholding of content is just pissing me off these days.
content can be sent round the world these days at the speed of light, yet we still have to wait months or even years.
you’ll see some online thing interviewing a British actor about their new British film, then they restrict the bloody content to the us.
but with this instance it’s especially annoying, they produced the show, for their own network, a network that is worldwide, or in a hell of lot of countries at least.
and the only country that got it on their network?
yep, america.
not even microsoft is this gung ho about only caring about the us.
when they do stuff, it’s usually worldwide, not sony though, the Japanese company sony, seems to only care about the us.
anyway.
the one silver lining to this is, that it will be shown on a terrestrial freeview channel, so everybody can watch it.
shame it’s a channel that’s seemingly never advertised or mentioned anywhere.
i’d never heard of the channel until this was announced.
had anybody else?
but then given how long they were shopping this around, i’d bet Spike were very low on their list, a list likely topped by sky atlantic and then the main terrestrial channels.
in fact, when the show originally launched, i don’t think spike even existed so they clearly went right off the bottom of the list.
and i hope they got a fraction of what they wanted for the show.
and i mean a teeny, tiny, minuscule little fraction.
would serve them right, for thinking that everybody outside the us deserves to be lied to.

1+ this comment! I agree wholeheartedly, geo blocking is bloody archaic in this day and age.
