Namco Founder Masaya Nakamura Passes Away

Namco was one of the first major companies to enter the video game space, but before that it was a company that made park rides. The founder of the company Masaya Nakamura, who steered the company to the videogames sector, passed away last week at the age 91. He founded Namco in 1955 and during the 1970’s turned his attention to games, helping create the iconic Pac-Man.

Masaya Nakamura’s funeral was held over the weekend, with the news coming out after the fact to respect the family’s privacy. We would like to extend our condolences to Mr Nakamura’s family, and thank him for his impact on the gaming industry.

  1. What a legacy to leave behind and also a wonderful age to live to and see how much has changed in gaming.

Condolences to his family echoed. A lovely sentiment. :-)

    • 91, that’s awesome, he was probably in his 50’s or 60’s when he created Pac-Man, truly a grandfather of modern gaming.
