UK Charts 11/03/17 - Ghost Recon Wildlands Becomes The Year's Biggest Launch

The war on drugs is pretty popular.

There’s been big game releases up to this point, but Ghost Recon Wildlands is perhaps the first and most conventional cross-platform AAA release – check out our review here. It’s not really all that surprising that it’s not only grabbed the top spot on this week’s charts, but also that it’s the year’s biggest game launch so far.

Last week was dominated by two soaring open world exclusives, and those both continued strongly, with Horizon Zero Dawn dropping to second and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild slipping to fourth place behind the newly released Lego Worlds.

The only other major releases of note were NieR: Automata, which debuted in 6th, and Mario Sports Superstars, which failed to strike a chord and only managed to appear in 37th place.

Must admit I did not see that coming but I am enjoying it a small burst of it at a time with For Honor (it can get really repetitve)
Cannot wait to get this Platinum and get cracking on Horizon and Mass Effect on my week off work in 2 weeks ^^

I might pick Wildlands up at a later date when it’s cheaper for a bit of co-op – I wasn’t too keen on the feel of it in the beta.
Meanwhile HZD is taking over my life.
I’m not sure I can appreciate the scenery of Wildlands after playing HZD, the visuals are just stunning. No disrespect to Wildlands, but to me, going from an open world in HZD to an open world in Wildlands, will seem like quite a big step backwards (visually).

It’s a shame Nier didn’t outsell Wildlands, I know it’s more niche but Nier is amazing!
Given I have and love both Horizon and Zelda, it’s Nier I’m hooked on and having the most fun playing!
That’s not to say Wildlands isn’t good, it’s a really fun coop shooter but it doesn’t feel special.
