The Synopsis Of The Rebooted Tomb Raider Movie Has Landed

PlayStation's sweetheart

Alicia Vikander is the latest incarnation of Lara Croft on the big screen with the new movie just a mere year away. It feels like I’ve been writing about it forever, but only a year to go. In the meantime we have the first official shots of Ms Vikander as Lara plus the official synopsis on the movie.

Seven years after the disappearance of her father, 21-year-old Lara has refused to take the reins of his global business empire, instead working as a bike courier in London while taking college classes. Eventually she becomes inspired to investigate her father’s disappearance and travels to his last-known location: a tomb on an island somewhere off the coast of Japan. Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider.

It sounds a little generic, the “youngster refuses to take over fathers business empire” thing has been done so many times before, Tron Legacy springs to mind. However, with a bit of grit, and hopefully a sly sense of humour, this could be good.

The quest for a decent movie based on a video game continues, will it be Tomb Raider?

I preferred the version of Lara from the original games… The only daughter of a Lord who was raised an aristocrat and attended the best private schools in England. Incredibly intelligent and strong-minded, athletic and beautiful beyond compare, with a love of history and heart for adventure… Not this ordinary ‘every-girl’ angle that seems to be all the rage these days.

Original Lara was an icon but most women couldn’t relate because she was too perfect.

Glad to see some sense. I’ve read online a couple of times in the last day about how it sounds amazing and so on point. Sounds like a wet squid to me. Granted it’s early days but somebody was paid (top dollar probably) to write this junket up and release it into the world, madness.

Well I think it should be about a beautiful young lady called Lara who doesn’t give a dam about her father, but sets off on a quest to find her true love, double-o-dave. I’m not gonna divulge any further in the raiding of tombs side of things.
