Housemarque's Nex Machina Lands This June, Includes Co-Op

The last of it's kind?

Housemarque’s Nex Machina, which has been developed in collaboration with industry legend Eugene Jarvis, will land on PlayStation 4 and PC on June 20th. It has also been announced that the game will include local co-op, with players either working together or competing against each other.

The game appears to the a culmination of every Housemarque game before it; Big weapons from Stardust, top down viewpoint from Dead Nation, ridiculous voxels from Resogun, and monsters from Alienation. That may be on purpose as the next Housemarque game sounds like it will be something completely different.

“The next games that we are working on are not really that kind of game,” CEO Ilari Kuittinen told GI.Biz. “It’s going to be something different from us, after the games we’re getting out now… In general terms, the problem might be that the bigger audience might be expecting something else than a top-down or side-scrolling game – let’s put it that way.”

It also appears that the company will also be moving away from PlayStation exclusives and going multi-platform. “Yeah, we’ve been exclusive and, relatively, we’ve done really well, but the big, big picture tells us that it seems there’s not enough demand for this,” said Kuittinen.
