Grimoire Cards Have Been Cut For Destiny 2

Destiny had a lot going for it but one of the biggest complaints regarding it was the lack of in game lore. Instead with Destiny if you wanted to learn more about what was going on, who the various factions were, and basically anything at all about Destiny you had to read the Grimoire Cards, but you had to hunt them out. It seems that Bungie has wised up to the idea that this wasn’t the best path to take, and it looks like the cards haven’t made the cut for Destiny 2.

Speaking to Forbes Bungie’s Steve Cotton affirmed that Grimoire cards would be left out, after being asked if they would return.

The answer to that question is ‘no’ and the reason it’s ‘no’ is because we want to put the lore in the game. We want people to be able to find the lore. All the story is told through the Adventures, it’s told through the characters in the world, it’s told through the campaign and it’s told through scannables you find throughout the world.”

That sounds like an admission that Destiny failed to properly explain the lore of the lands, and this move will likely be welcomed by those who will be playing Destiny 2.

  1. Thank god! Got the destiny collection a few weeks ago and having a blast with mates but the total lack of any explanation for anything in game was baffling.

In case you’re wondering why Destiny 1’s in-game story was such a clusterf*ck then read this: http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-amazing-secret-sci-fi-epic-hiding-in-destiny/
Basically the Bungie execs hated the story the writers had made for destiny, so they fired them all and cobbled together a random story themselves literally months before release. Relegating the rich lore the writers had created to the Grimoire card thing on Bungie’s website.
