Red Dead Redemption 2 Delayed Until Spring 2018

Rockstar have delayed Red Dead Redemption 2, moving the release from Autumn this year to Spring 2018. The developers say “they are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready,” and they are sorry for any disappointment.

“This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware,” they add, “And some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.”

To ease the disappointment they have released a couple of screen shots which do look stunning, check them out below.

  1. Noooo!

On the other hand, if that’s how long it takes to get it right, fair enough. And those new screen shots do look rather nice.

  2. It is a bit devastating as I was looking forward to playing it but as long as it’s great on release that is all that matters. At least I can get through some of my backlog now though.

  3. Gutted, but those screenshots are sublime!

I’m hoping we see some gameplay at E3, and a PC release announcement would be incredible.

  4. Saw this coming a mile away, always though 2017 was a bit soon considering it was only announced a month or two back. If there is one game worth waiting for it will be this one.

    • Actually seven months ago :)

      • Man time really does go quicker the older you get. Could have sworn it was only a few months ago.

Not surprising news. Game was due out in only a few months and we had heard nothing new. Still, those screenshots are pretty.

  5. Ffs,me and the Mrs were just talking about this tonight.Hopefully they show something at E3 to keep us going until next spring.Slightly gutted but i’m sure it’ll pass.

  6. As long as they don’t forget the PC version this time, we’ll be okay…

  7. Looking sexy as.

There’s plenty to keep me going before then, all good.

  8. I didn’t even like the first game that much but those screens do look impressive.

  9. Good, gives me time to play the first one this summer and then dedicate myself to Star Wars all winter long.

  10. Red Dead Delayemption (or something).

    • That probably sounded better in your head, didn’t it?

But top marks for giving it a go anyway.

      • Things generally sound much better in my head, yes :)

I actually meant to say Red Dead Red-delay-emption which is clearly much, much better.

      • Not only do you get top marks for giving it a go in the first place, but I have to say I admire your commitment to your cause.

I do it too, sometimes. Just keep trying in the hope it’ll eventually work, despite all the evidence.

Don’t worry, you’ve got a year or so to find a pun that works. Probably more like 18 months because it’ll be delayed again probably.
