Update 10AM 24/06 – After dropping the level requirement to 28, it’s now down to level 25 and up. That will still have taken a fair bit of dedicated Pokémon hunting, but should be within reach of a lot more people. How low will they go?
Trainers level 25 and above: You can now participate in Raid Battles at a wide variety of Gyms around the world.

Eurogamer are also reporting changes to the way PokéCoins (the game’s premium currency) are earned in game. Previously limited to 10 coins per Gym you had a Pokémon attached to, redeemable ever 21 hours, it’s now set so that you earn one PokéCoin every ten minutes that a Pokémon is on a Gym, with a daily limit of 50 coins.
Big changes have been happening in Pokémon Go over the last couple of days, as announced earlier this week. Gyms have been overhauled so that they’re more balanced and need to be actively maintained to avoid them sliding in power and switching hands, as well as including a PokéStop. These gyms can also be the site of new raid battles, timed events in which players from all factions can team up to go up against hugely powerful Pokémon.
Raid battles have gone live this morning, but Niantic are taking baby steps with the feature, as it is initially limited to players level 35 and up. That’s going to be a simply tiny faction of the players, and those who have consistently played for months on end. Don’t worry though, they will be extending it to more and more players over time.
