The SNES Classic Mini Launches On 29th September - 21 Games, Star Fox 2 & Pre-Orders [Update]

Mini SNES.

The rumours for a SNES mini have been doing the rounds ever since Nintendo announced that production of NES Classic was stopping and lo and behold, here is the official announcement.

The console, which looks like the original console but smaller – Europe gets the good looking one below, while the US gets it uglier cousin – contains 21 pre-installed classic games and can easily be plugged into any high-definition TV using the included HDMI cable. Two “classic” wired SNES controllers are also included.

Here’s that all important list of games, and eagle eyed Nintendo fans will spot  that the previously unreleased Star Fox 2 is on there.
  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi’s Island

While not everywhere just yet, pre-orders have now gone live in some places, including:

I was going to point out that you can pre-order from Game for just £79.99, but then realised that yes, there’s a good chance they’ll charge you for 7 1/3 of them and only send you one, or none.

Or 7 and a bit, which is probably the best outcome, because you could sell them on eBay for silly prices once Nintendo inevitably forget to actually make any. Although people would then be allowed to call you all sorts of very rude things.

I’m just being hilarious like always. Or hilariously annoying. Or just annoying.

        Probably just annoying.

Brilliant little gadget, so dinky compared to the original and a step closer to the behemoth N64 mini, a handheld you say? :P
I might get this too, it does look very tempting!

And everywhere else it seems! I’ve been trying to order a second one, they’re super hot cakes. I can’t believe how fast that happened, I hope more stock appears.

Happy to stick with Shopto, despite being the most expensive. They don’t fuck about, and they’ll probs adjust the price anyway.

I kept trying and finally got one at 23:30 from Game.co.uk when their site came back up. Will sit nicely alongside my Mini NES.

Hope they do a Mini N64 with Goldeneye!!!

I was wondering how far they’d go with the mini’s, a little N64 would be the nuts but I’ve got a feeling the SNES will be it and like the NES in short supply. Glad you got one mate!

Thanks! I’d have had to buy one on eBay for twice the money if not!

Yeah I know what you mean! Nintendo really know how to whip up a frenzy, I’m hoping the extremely limited stock and huge buzz leads to more people get a Switch at Christmas, more games get made, the Switch sees more multiplatform titles and the console war goes 3 ways again.
