Overwatch Deathmatch Mode Goes Live, Junkertown Map Joins The PTR

There’s no pretence anymore in Overwatch, as Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch join the Arcade in the game. There’s no playing the objective, no need to worry about attack or defence, it’s just about beating your foes in straight up combat. Announced a few weeks ago, it’s now live for all in the latest patch.

These twinned modes are playable on the following maps:

  • Hanamura
  • Horizon Lunar Colony
  • Temple of Anubis
  • Volskaya Industries
  • Dorado
  • Eichenwalde
  • Hollywood
  • King’s Row
  • (TDM only) Black Forest
  • (TDM only) Castillo
  • (TDM only) Ecopoint: Antarctica
  • (TDM only) Necropolis

Additional tweaks in the update mean that Junkrat can now hold two concussion mines and his RIP-Tire’s speed has been increased, Orisa’s projectiles are 20% faster and her already huge barrier side has been increased by 20%, Roadhog can now move while using Take a Breather, and Widowmaker’s Grappling Hook can be used more often while her Venom  Mine will now highlight victims for her.

This is also the start of Season 6, which sees the Competitive Play season reduced to  2 months in length, more points awarded for wins, Control maps be made best of 3, and plenty more.

Further to that, if you’re on PC and fancy joining the public test realm, you can get a sneak peak at the Junkertown map that was unveiled and playable at Gamescom last week. You can read our impression of that map and Blizzard’s plans for the future here.
