Final Fantasy IX Announced For PlayStation 4, Out Today

The Pan European Game Information system, aka PEGI, leaked the release of Final Fantasy IX for PlayStation 4 late last night and it has now been confirmed by Sony at the Tokyo Game Show. They announced that the game would be released in Japan today, and the PEGI listing also states the title will be landing here in Europe at the same time.

The game is already available on PlayStation 3 and Vita as a PSOne Classic title, and was ported to PC last year so that’s probably the version that is heading to PlayStation 4.

We will update this story when Sony Europe wake up and confirm the details.

It’s up for £16.99 (or £13.59 with PS+) now. Looks like a port of the PC version, with cheats to speed it up and avoid encounters (because obviously you’d want to avoid fighting in an RPG). And autosave! That’s just wrong.

It’s also the worst of the 3 PS1 Final Fantasy games, so I’ve no idea why they did that one instead of FF8.

Funnily enough, its my favourite one of the PS1 era. Each to there own – opinions are not facts.

It wasn’t bad, I just preferred 8. Which may be a controversial opinion, I guess.

Just seen the trophy list though.

Exaclibur II? The one you get for completing most of the game in under 12 hours?

Ozma? Possibly the most annoying boss in any of the FF games. Or any game ever, possibly.

Win 100 Tetra Master games (and nobody try and argue that was a better mini game than the one in FF8 was, because it’s not)

And defeat 10000 enemies. That could take a while.

Actually, I like those sorts of trophies for these old games. Show all those young people what it was like back then. Remember, trying to find out how to do all these things from the internet was nowhere near as easy and much more annoying. And none of your fancy “autosave” nonsense either.

Just bought this, I couldn’t resist. I have amazingly fond memories of playing FF9 as a kid.
