The Updated PlayStation VR Is Going On Sale In Japan This Weekend

A triple whammy of PlayStation VR news today, the first anniversary of the virtual reality headset’s launch, as Sony Japan have announced that the CUH-ZVR2 revision of the PlayStation VR hardware will be going on sale in Japan tomorrow, Saturday 14th October.

No date has been announced for the new headset’s rollout in other regions, but if you’ve been looking to buy a PSVR, then it could be worth waiting a little while to pick up the newer version when it becomes available.

The revision for the headset makes minor tweaks to the system, adding HDR passthrough support to the processing unit, meaning you won’t have to switch cables to get that sweet HDR action – sadly, the cabling means this is not compatible with the first generation headset – and support for integrated earbuds so you don’t have to worry about blindly groping for your headphones anymore.

It will be on sale bundled with a camera for 44,980 yen (around the US’ MSRP of $400) plus tax. Additionally, Japan is getting a big sale on PSVR games with more than fifty games going on sale with up to 80% off for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
