December's PlayStation Plus Revealed, Includes Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition

The universe has brought us the Dragon Warrior!

I can see what Sony are trying to do with the latest PlayStation Plus, many people will be getting the console and Plus underneath the tree so they are trying to make everyone happy.

The good news is that the first game you are getting in December is the generally rather good Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition. Some lovely hack and slash arcade action for the grown up, and for the kiddies we have Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends, a game that has a score of 63% on Metacritic and only five outlets in the world reviewed it. “It is a passable Smash Bros. clone,” is about most praise given to the title.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and That’s You! are still available as bonus titles, whilst PS3 owners get Xblaze Lost: Memories and Syberia Collection, and Vita owners can grab Forma 8 and Wanted Corp.

So then, good month of bad month? Let us know the comments by posting yay or nay.

UPDATE: PlayStation Plus gamers in Asia are getting Knack and Ratchet & Clank instead.

I’ve always found something to play but in the run up to Christmas I’d’ve though Sony would put out a more recognisable lineup, more importantly one with a more rounded appeal. I would’ve put money on Little Big Planet 3 and perhaps DriveClub Bikes or Rocket League again to put the cherry on a really good few months worth of cake. Ah well, the good times had to end and we have been very lucky the last few months, and I’ll definitely play the Vita titles and Syberia. Oh and sod off with your That’s You rubbish, trying that at a mates was the most disappointing 15 minutes of PlayStation I’ve suffered this generation.

Yeah, it is a disappointing end of year line-up, but I disagree with you about That’s You!

I’ve played it a few times with the wife/friends, and we’ve always found it a total blast.

Oh right! We found it refused to work, phones connected okay but either dropped out or wouldn’t work as soon as we started a game, and then when the takeaway driver phoned the PS4 crashed! The curry was good though :)

Darksiders II is a pretty good but uneven affair – not sure the Christmas lineup was the best time to release this tbh.

As for XBlaze… hmm… it looks like seedy, anime soft porn for Japanese business executives. Pass.

Kung Fu Panda might be alright for a bit of light hearted fun. Some of the Grindy trophies have put me off a little.

I think the Syberia Collection is the most exciting game on the list for me – I’ll have to dig out the PS3. It kinda looks a bit like Tomb Raider. Or if Aldi started making Videogames and tried to mimic the new Tomb Raider games… ‘Krypt Robber: Staring Laura Craft’. Or something. Should be interesting.

I only played the original back in the 90s, as far as I remember Syberia is more of a point and click adventure than a Tomb Raiding platformer. And I’m suddenly more interested in XBlade…

6 games that don’t appear to be that great, but not terrible either. Average to reasonably good?

But it’s certainly a diverse selection. Surely at least something there that everyone will enjoy? On the other hand, that’s possibly everyone not enjoying 5 games.

On the plus side, it’s 100% more new games for me than last month, and 67% more than October. And nothing as terrible as some of the things we’ve had lately (that Amnesia thing in October being a good example), although nothing quite as good.

    An acceptable month, I guess.

Just renewed my Plus subscription (after much hesitation) expecting a stellar December line-up…and I wish I didn’t. Average games on offer at best.

We had Rigs for a couple of months, and then the excellent Rush of Blood for another couple of months. (There’s at least a couple of months of fun to be had there from getting your non-gaming loved ones to play that. I almost got my phone out to film Phil playing it at the weekend, but then realised I’d probably never have sex again if I did. So just settled for laughing at his big girly screams)

And Bound has a VR mode as well.

Hopefully Rush of Blood gets replaced by another bonus VR game in January. Once the new VR people have had a chance to buy lots of things in December. I’m sure the number of games people buy for a new VR headset is probably quite high.
