Something For The Weekend – 02/12/17

The second door.

I’m sure a bunch of you have cracked open the second doors of your advent calendars, put up your Christmas decorations – my neighbour is hanging up lights on the front of his house as I type this – and put on a nice, thick and luridly patterned Christmas jumper. It’s December, after all.

The news cycle is starting to wind down, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been a fair few talking points to cover this last week.

The biggest game in review this week was Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for

This Week’s Features

Features were a little thin on the ground this week outside of catching up on reviews from the past month or so. Living in the no man’s land between review and feature, Jim was the puppeteer to a bunch of simulated lives, saying that The Sims 4 on console loses none of the series’ charm, while I took a look at Mantis Burn Racing and its recent port to Nintendo Switch.

I dove in to take a look at Doom VFR on PlayStation VR, finding something that blends the fast-paced feel of last year’s Doom with the more considered approach of VR shooters, while Aran stepped into the octagon of UFC 3’s beta.

Finally, Dave spoke to Blizzard about all things Hearthstone, in the run up to its latest expansion, Kobolds & Catacombs.

What We Played rounded off the week with Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Sky Force Reloaded and Doom VFR.

  • MrYd’s adventures in VR saw him pick up The Playroom VR’s platinum, as well as hiding himself in a vending machine in Rec Room

  • TSBonyman has already sunk 44 hours into Skryim VR

How do you get featured in the achievements section? Do you pick from comments? Forum threads? Do you have to submit them? I want in! :D

Usually, you wait until Friday and post some comment on the What We Played thing. Something saying you got a platinum trophy for some game, and you were doing something stupid in another (like hiding in vending machines) works.

I’m sure the usual promotional methods work. Envelopes full of money. Little cakes. Sexual favours. Those sorts of things.

Probably. I just stick to making comments on a Friday.
