Monster Hunter: World's Post Launch Plans Could Include Free Monster Updates

There's always another hunt.

The Monster Hunter: World beta has been in full swing this weekend, challenging players to take on three targets either alone or with a group of people. Having played it for a little while I can tell there are a lot of systems to get used to when it comes to choosing the right equipment and approach for each monster, something that will require a bit of a time investment.

Of course there are many of you who are avid monster hunters, or plan to become so, and you may be worried that after you’ve completed the main hunts  that’s it. Fear not however as series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto spoke to Famitsu about post launch plans, and the gist seems to be more monsters for no extra cost.

“We’re thinking about free updated for Monster Hunter: World after its release. To be more specific, we plan on adding new monsters and such, to get players to play for as long as possible. As for what kind of monsters will be added, we’ll share more information on that later, so please look forward to it.”

Thinking seems to imply that free content updates are the main supported idea, but nothing is set in stone just yet. As is said in the statement we’ll have to wait for more information once Monster Hunter: World is out.

I tried this out at the weekend having never played a MH game. It was pretty good. I could only manage the first monster solo though. Had to team up for the others. 20m was pretty short and I was running around confused for most of it. Oh the matchmaking was awful too. Not sure it’s grabbed me enough….
