PUBG Xbox One Patch #5 Removes Invulnerability Cheat & Adds New Control Layout

Please hold.

The patches for PUBG on Xbox One are coming thick and fast, with the fifth update released this morning at 4AM GMT as a priority fix for an out of bounds glitch that let people cheat their way to victory. For the last few days, players without scruples would sit quietly under the map and be unaffected by the damage you’re meant to receive while outside the safe zone, robbing people of their deserved wins. Thankfully that’s now fixed.

Despite largely being a hot fix for this issue, a few other changes have also been bundled in. The Y button now simply switches between your two main guns, with the pistol now mapped to up on the D-pad, and there’s a second control preset so that you can hold the trigger to aim down sights instead of having it as a dual-purpose toggle. To aim over the shoulder, the Type B preset maps this to the left shoulder button.

Here’s the patch notes:

  • Pistols have been removed from Y button’s weapon rotation and grouped with the melee weapon.
  • Players can now equip pistols by pressing ‘up’ on the D pad.

  • Continued improvements related to player “rubber banding”.
  • Enhanced server performance while parachuting.

  • Added a new controller preset to options menu.
    • Type B (new preset) now supports:
      • Holding LT to aim down sight.
      • Holding LB to use 3rd person perspective aim sight.
  • Controller guide has been updated to include  the new controller preset.
 Bug fixes
  • Fixed an issue where players repositioned out of the battleground after certain actions and remained invulnerable until the end of the match.
  • Additional memory and non-memory related crash fixes.
  • Fixed the inability to join duo/squad through invites outside of game.

Known issues to be addressed next patch:

  • Dropping objects causes the player to switch weapons.
  • User is unable to switch grenade types when tapping right on the D-Pad.
